As a Stanford trained psychiatrist with an undergraduate degree in neurobiology from Harvard, I bring to my work a deep appreciation for the interaction between mind and body. My collaborative therapeutic approach draws on 20 plus years of clinical experience and incorporates many different schools of thought depending on the individual's needs. Psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, self-psychology, and mindfulness based approaches are all used, along with medication when indicated. Treatment is tailored to the client's particular needs and goals, and may involve a brief consultation, short-term therapy or a longer-term treatment plan.
I address both physical symptoms clients may be experiencing as well as exploring any underlying psychologic patterns that may be contributing to the problem, and together we come up with a treatment plan. Medication is best managed in the context of a psychotherapeutic relationship. I strongly believe in the role lifestyle and physical health can play on emotional health, and I incorporate these principles into my therapy practice.
