Monica was born in Pottstown, PA and raised in Douglassville, PA. Monica attended Daniel Boone High School where she was very active in the music and theatre departments.
After graduating from high school, Monica matriculated to Ursinus College located in Collegeville, PA. At Ursinus, she majored in Biology and was named to the Phi Beta Kappa National Honor Society. Monica was active in campus organizations and worked as a resident assistant, biology lab assistant, and student financial aid assistant. In 1994, she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Monica continued her education at The Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. During medical school she received the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians Award for performance and leadership in Family Practice, the Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation of the AMWA for academic excellence and the Merck Manual Award for clinical excellence. In 1998, Monica graduated Cum Laude with her Medical Doctorate.
Monica continued her medical training in the Family and Community Medicine Residency Program at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA. During this three year residency program, Monica had the opportunity to develop relationships with countless patients, both young and old. This rigorous and well-respected residency program provided Monica with training in all aspects of family and community medicine.
During residency, Monica enjoyed volunteer and community activities. She served on the Education Committee at Lancaster General Hospital, was the coordinator for the Franklin& Marshall College Pre-Medical Preceptorship Program and volunteered as a "big sister” in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program of Lancaster County.
Monica is a member of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians, the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Association. She is also certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
Monica is married and has a daughter. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, crafts, animals, reading and the arts.
