I completed medical school at the American University of Beirut in Beirut, Lebanon. Following that, I completed my psychiatry residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. I have been seeing outpatients for the past 10 years. In addition to English, I am fluent in Arabic, French, and Spanish. I am very interested in cross cultural psychiatry and like to work with people from different cultures and backgrounds. I also have a lot of experience working with gay and lesbian patients and immigrants who are dealing with various immigration issues. I believe in using medications but only when needed and I prefer to use the least amount of medications/lowest dose possible.

Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to meet with Dr. Fattal; however, the five minute conversation we had provided me with all the information I needed to pass on his services.
I have never scheduled an appointment with a psychiatrist before. When I finally bitt the bullet and checked ZocDoc, there was only one doctor that matched my location and insurance criteria. Anxious yet optimistic, I booked an appointment. I received confirmation, and the day of I received a reminder for my appointment. Everything seemed clear.
When I arrived today, twenty minutes early and extremely nervous, I sat for a while before knocking on the doctor's door. No answer, so I went back and asked the doorman if he was in. After a phone call with the doorman he came outside to meet me. Instead of greeting me and taking me into his office, he brusquely pulled me to the side of this residential building's foyer and told me that he needs to confirm the appointment, and that since he hadn't, he could niy dee me. Flabbergasted, I showed him the confirmation note I received from ZocDoc. He still blamed them, saying "This isn't how it works. You and I need to have a conversation before you come in here." I asked him if he had called me since I booked the appointment, and he said no. I explained out loud that if he failed to contact me, then it isn't in fact an error by ZocDoc; rather, he was ultimately responsible for this. At no point did he acknowledge a mistake on his end or apologize. My time was wasted because of his apparent incompetency.
I don't normally write reviews for anything, but I think this is worth noting. I took a gamble on a doctor without any reviews yet on ZocDoc and was dealt a miserable experience. There was no empathy from Dr. Fattel - he didn't seem to feel any guilt or regret from his mistake - he just refused to see me. It takes courage to ask for help. Whether it's incompetence or lack of empathy, this is not how you treat people who are asking for your help. If you, like me, have never seen a psychiatrist before, Dr. Fattel is a lousy introduction.
