Patrick Scott Pevoto, MD is the newest physician to join Austin Area Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Fertility. He is a native of Port Arthur, Texas and the son of a physician. He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, summa cum laude, at The University of Texas at Austin. He obtained his medical degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, and continued his training at UTMB in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Pevoto received an Executive MBA from The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin in 2002. Along with his entrepreneurial team, he won the International MOOT Corp Award (the “National Championship” of business competition) for his patented work with his device for home pap smear testing, which is still in development. The University of Texas Tower was turned orange with the “number one” in the windows for his team’s efforts, the first time the Tower has been configured for an academic effort.
Dr. Pevoto has been practicing in the Austin area for more than 23 years. He has been a pioneer in vaginal reconstructive surgery, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, and robotic surgery. He has been on the faculty of The University of Texas College of Pharmacy as a clinical assistant professor for over 20 years, and was previously a faculty member of the University of Texas Medical School in Houston (Austin Campus) teaching medical students and residents. His interests include attempts at playing golf, tennis, guitar, piano, and coaching Little League baseball. He is an avid Longhorn fan, and his “horns” are up, win or lose.
