He was extremely thorough. He approached my issues differently than anyone else has, asked many questions, listened well and came up with a treatment plan.

Grateful to have booked here, Dr Berenbaum was more thorough than all 6 of the previous doctors I’ve seen for my current condition combined. Recommended a course of action that makes sense and covers all bases. He restored the sense of ‘care’ in my overall opinion/experience of healthcare these last few months. Would highly recommend.

Unable to address basic GI-related questions with clear specific answers. Cannot go into much more without disclosing private health info but all in all, completely inefficient use of time. Do not recommend to anyone !

Dr. Was a great help and concerning!
Verified patient
I'm honestly just really disappointed. I made my initial appointment in December and thought I finally found a doctor that took me seriously and had a sense of urgency to my needs. I never got a follow up appointment or even a phone call. I feel forgotten and wish I'd picked another doctor

Very efficient and thorough!

Dr was great but office staff is understaffed which I understand. The problem is the staff they do have are very nice but seem confused. I booked through this to make things less stressful for me and it has been a struggle. They couldn't find my paperwork when I first got there. And after I talked to the Dr, and had a follow up scheduled I never paperwork work to get my blood work done. They called to confirm information several times (2 different days with multiple calls each day)and I still don't have the right paperwork. I sadly have to find another Dr but it's only because of the staff. They were nice just not very good at their jobs.

Changed appointment 4 times, unprofessional.
My prayers were ANSWERED!! Finally a doctor who listens and makes you feel validated. He seems like the right guy for the job for a chronic issue. So far, 5 stars from this way!!

so I liked Dr. B a lot. he was really nice and seemed thorough. however, there was a lot of follow up things I needed after my appointment, which the staff was supposed to contact me about. I called them when that never happened, and they had no record or idea of what I needed. Unfortunately it's very frustrating to have to follow up over and over again when already dealing with an autoimmune illness, and I decided to seek other care. The office is very outdated, and uses all paper records, and while I know most staff has no control over that, I cannot recommend this office to anyone else.

Dr. Berenbaum is great! Honestly, I didn't want to book with him after reading all the negative reviews, but he was the only doctor who accepted my insurance, so I had no choice. I'm really glad I booked with him. If you're reading these reviews, my suggestion is to ignore the negative ones and form your own opinion. He was thoughtful and asked me a ton of questions to get to know me better. I felt like he really cared and didn't want to rush me out the door like my last doctor did. I'm definitely going back to him permanently.

Excellent at diagnosing my problem
Verified patient
Very convenient with the telemedicine I was able to get a screening through zoom and will have to come in for labs and testing later.
Verified patient
Dr. Berenbaum was very attentive during the appointment. He is great at getting to the root of my symptoms, and covered all the bases in order to get an accurate diagnosis.
Verified patient
Dr. Berenbaum was very caring, thoughtful and thorough. He allowed me to express not just my symptoms, but also the tribulations that my medical issues have caused. He made me feel like I have finally found a doctor who will use his expertise in the medical field and compassion in life to help me find a cure for my GI ailments.
Verified patient
No bedside manner. Confused Lacking any communication skills. The office staff is nice, but the practice seems backwards and slow to say the least
Very knowledgeable & very courteous.
Very patient and thorough.

This was the worst doctor experience I’ve ever had. Very unprofessional. Dr. Berenbaum’s bed side manner wasn’t great. There were no vitals checks like you would normally get at every doctors appt. He jumped right to the conclusion of more testing before fully hearing out my symptoms. Set me up with blood work, an endoscopy & colonoscopy all done by him. Still use paperwork & no electronics so I had to sit there while his admin filled out everything by hand. I ended up cancelling all tests and sought a second opinion. Will not be returning here.
Verified patient
Dr Berenbaum has by far the most outdated medical office I have ever seen. Not a single computer in site. I came to this practice for ongoing stomach issues, & his practice performed a few diagnostic procedures. On our consultation appointment post-procedures they did not give me my prescriptions at the hospital, did not call them in for almost two weeks, and when I went back in person the paper prescription they sent was written so poorly the pharmacy couldn't read it. On top of that, he expected me to take ~20 high-dose pills per day with no diet changes. He also accused me of not needing a psychiatric medication i take every day, which is none of his business as he is not a psychiatrist. I will not be returning.

The office (Center City) is extremely old and virtually functionality obsolete. The staff is generally unhelpful and not overly friendly. Dr. Berenbaum was straightforward, however I felt it necessary in this instance to seek a second opinion. Also, they don't accept credit cards and take forever to cash checks.
I would not recommend this doctor. If you are looking for compassionate, empathetic, high quality care, you'd be better off looking elsewhere.
I like him very caring
Verified patient
He was sweet, kind, and thorough, considering I have been dealing with extreme pain for over a year, I finally feel like I'll get the help I need. My new gastric doctor!
Verified patient
I was really satisfied with my visit. The doctor was very attentive and did fully study which helped revealing some issues. The wait time varies - one time I came and went right in, the other time I had to wait about 30 minutes.
Verified patient
Everything about this experience was pretty negative. From the dilapidated office (huge puddle in the middle of the hallway from an AC leak, water/rust stains all over the ceiling) to the incredibly impolite front desk staff and everything in between. Dr. Berenbaum was definitely knowledgable, but had a really off-putting and cold bedside manner. I appreciate a straight-shooter, but having a warm energy and a shred of humor is important when seeing a patient, especially when a patient might be talking about a particularly embarrassing condition. They weren't able to take any form of card for copay (cash only) and all I left with was a laundry list of expensive procedures that I needed to get (from him) with little to no explanation at all. I'm dropping everything, discounting this appointment and seeing another GI specialist.
Verified patient
He was absolutely terrible. He has zero bedside manners, he walked in, didn't even say hello or introduced himself. He was completely dismissive of my symptoms and previous diagnosis. He kept interrupting me and provided no solution or guidance toward my issue. The whole experience was disappointing. I would avoid seeing Berenbaum at all cost.
Verified patient
Dr.Berenbaum very professional. I love it right away. I been having this problem for years never have a GI doctor to tell me to stop what I was doing cause this is chronic and I was just putting a bandage in a wound. Highly recommend
Verified patient
had a great visit with Dr. Berenbaum. He listened to all my symptoms and came up with a great game plan for next steps. He is patient and very knowledgeable. Asked the right questions to get more symptoms that I never thought to mention.
