My first time to his office and myself, especially my son loved him. He's very hands on, interactive and knowledgeable. Oh and he's funny. The whole visit he kept us smiling even when we was having serious moments. It kept our spirits up. We'll be a patient of his til he retires.
Was there for a flu shot. The wait in the office could've been shorter, especially for the type of appointment, but the receptionist seemed preoccupied. One we did get to see the nurse, the appointment was a breeze! Unfortunately it took longer to get checked in than the actual appointment.
Since Zocdoc averages the answers of the 3 questions, my review may result in a higher than deserved score, but please know that I'd give him no stars if possible... My family is new the area and this is my daughter's 3rd time seeing Dr. Sarmiento. The first time he proceeded to make derogatory comments about her weight; yes, she's overweight, but she's also suffering from and being treated for bulimia, depression, and anxiety (which I'd clearly indicated in all of her new patient paperwork) and his comments could've had severe effects. Expecting that this was a one-time oversight and definitely not the standard of care that I've come to expect from MedStar providers, I later met with him and advised him again of her mental health problems. Fast forward a couple of months (definitely no more than 2-3) after I'd met with him and explained about my concern's and my daughter's ongoing fight and treatments and ensured that he'd properly noted her chart, she saw him for this visit on 2/1/17. During this visit, he questioned her medications (all prescribed by a licensed, practicing pediatric psychiatrist with input from her therapist and several other related professionals) for her depression, anxiety, and bulimia and then proceeded to make jokes about her mental health including outright stating/joking that she should just kill herself. My daughter is now hospitalized and has been since the day after her visit, 2/2/2017, with all indications that she'd still be home and stable if not for the commentary and ridicule that Dr. Sarmiento provided. Like I said, Dr. Sarmiento was aware of her mental health struggles, yet instead of empathy or even professionalism, he taunted my child, shaming her to the point of a breakdown. I'm in the process of gathering info and making a formal complaint while trying to work and be actively involved in my daughter's recovery but I didn't want to wait until action was taken to share my experience with others in hopes that your child doesn't end up like mine or worse. Fortunately, for us, my daughter asked for help before it was too late... The next child might not.
Great office and interactions with everyone. Quick, friendly and very personable.
