Perry Sexton grew up in Redlands, California where his pastimes included athletics and music. These instilled a goal oriented attitude that is reflected in his approach with his patients,encouraging them to be proud of what they are, but never satisfied with it. He obtained his bachelor of science in biology from Sonoma State University. He then attended Loma Linda University where he attained his MD in 2001. His career led him to the East coast where he trained in emergency medicine and family practice at Yale and The University of Pennsylvania respectively. Since that time he has lived and practiced in San Diego.
He is licensed in the state of California and board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, and he is a member of the American Association of Family Practice. Dr. Sexton's enthusiasm and reputation for encouraging patient education is well recognized by his colleagues and patients. His several appearances on NBC morning news in the past few years have shown his passion for improving community health through
education about lifestyle. His Three-Step Diet Plan was even
adopted by the city of Philadelphia as a strategy to combat the growing problem of obesity in their community in 2006. He has published many articles and book chapters within his field.
However, Doctor Sexton maintains that his passion for patient
education is best seen in the time he spends with his individual patients, teaching them with a whiteboard and a marker.
In starting his own practice, Doctor Sexton has made it his mission to offer a new breed of healthcare to those
who have felt either intimidated or disenfranchised by the medical system of the day. He has embraced an atmosphere that would seem more like a day spa than a medical office. He offers hope to those who have found themselves overburdened with medications and overwhelmed by confusing diagnoses. He is always eager to offer understandable explanations, continuous instruction on the changes that can be made to
improve that condition, and compassionate support along the path to healing. Evidence and faith, medication
as well as motivation, are all principles that Doctor Sexton has come to embrace through his broad experience.
In his personal life Doctor Sexton enjoys expressing his creativity in writing and comedy. He hopes to, one day,
perform as a stand-up comic. Until that day, laughter remains his preferred medicine and thankfully there is still no co-payment for it. He has a passion for the ocean and enjoys surfing in the nearby waters. His family and close friends have been and remain an amazing and strong force in his life.

I have to say Dr. Sexton is THE MOST comprehensive, concerned and understanding physician I have ever visited. He explains in great detail what is going with my health during my visits. I really appreciate his approach to diagnosing ailments and alternative procedures
rather than just doping me up with a bunch of drugs. What I also find quite pleasant is that he displays a genuine concern as to how I am doing personally with life and family. This office is outstanding, all of the staff is tremendously pleasant and outgoing. I refer this clinic to everyone I know. The options of treatment and rehabilitation seem endless. Huge thanks!!!! You only have to look at the many positive comments below this one to know there is something different about this office. Dr. Sexton sat and talked with me for almost 45 minutes this morning during my appointment so that he could get to know me, not just my chart. Unheard of!

I never take the time to answer these things - Coolest doctor I have ever had an appointment with. Could not believe how much time he spend talking with me. Usually, the doctor pops in after their assistant does everything; they ask a few question, give a fake smile, and then leave the room as quickly as they entered. Dr. Sexton was pretty rad!

Dr Sexton takes the time to review your chart before you arrive to reacquaint with your prior visits. Great notes are taken each time. He spends the time to know what is going on with you, not just the 10 minute how-ya-doin' bit. A REAL doctor visit.
Not only does he take the time to know your health and your life, but he is also technology-oriented, linking you and your other doctors to your medical history.

Great approach, very refreshing. Holistic, integrative medicine - looks addressing underlying causes, not just treating acute symptoms. It's not all about drugs, but more about lifestyle modifications. Office is very "zen" as is Dr. sexton's manner. I would recommend to anyone who believes in doctors who promote wellness rather than just treating sickness (Dr. Sexton does both, but clear emphasis on promoting wellness).
