We went to Dr. Lavine in terms of dance medicine. Problems with knee and ankle pain in a 16 year old ballet dancer. We are from out of country and had had very different diagnosis and instructions from doctors. He was very knowledagle and clear in his explanations and gave us confidence in correctly understanding and treating the situation.

Loved meeting with Dr. Lavine! He spent a really long time with me, getting to know me and my injury. Make sure to ask him follow up questions, though. He isn’t always super clear about everything. But he was wonderful to work with overall. His office is also really cool - decked out with signed musical and dance posters. They do not do X-rays on site FYI but there is one in the building or one around the corner you can use.

Did not have a good experience here. Waited 45 minutes past my appointment time to be seen. Office is extremely cluttered and disorganized (exam rooms seem to double as storage rooms). Appointment was brief and exam not thorough. No imaging capabilities on site which I consider important in an orthopedic office.

He was a very nice doctor; the office was busy but I was seen relatively quickly, and when Dr. Lavine did see me, he spent a very long time getting my medical history and discussing the issue with me. I am happy to have found him and intent to stick with him for my knee and any other orthopedic issues I may have.

Dr. Lavine recently performed a successful foot surgery (bunion) for me. The wait is generally as long, or longer, than the actual appointment, but his medical work (surgery and post-op) was exceptional.

I was very hopeful in working with Dr. Lavine due to his background and strong credentials, but I was extremely disappointed that although arriving early I was not seen until an hour after my appointment time, then I needed x-rays which they do not do at their location and I had to go to another floor to spend another hour then come back up with a CD for him to review. If the wait was going to be so long, I would have loved the staff to be mindful enough to send me for x-rays in advance so my time wouldn't have been so wasted. I had an afternoon appointment and anticipated going back to work, but got out so late it was pointless. I spent more time waiting then speaking to him, and it was primarily to rule out a possible injury. Although, I may consider giving him another chance, I don't know if the wait is worth it. There are too many great doctors out there with offices that respect patient time.

It seems that this office over-schedules -- the waiting room was full of people, and these people had to wait for quite a while (I had to wait for 45 minutes). Dr. Lavine was somewhat personable, but I didn't get a sense that he was all that interested or particularly empathic. It might have been because of the volume of the patients he had to see, or that it was getting to the end of the day. In any case, this visit stood in an unfavorable contrast to some other MD visits I had to make recently, where the providers were able to engage more effectively.

Dr. Lavine will keep you waiting long after your appointment time. He didn't order an MRI for my hip, which clearly needed one (two subsequent orthopedists did order it.He also seems to be a leader in tort reform (meaning making it illegal/difficult for patients to sue for malpractice) and seems to discourage treatment in order to save insurance companies money.

Dr. Lavine was excellent! He really took the time to listen, understand my concerns, and explain alternatives. The front office staff, however, was very inefficient and took a long time to get me signed in even though I had already filled all of out the forms. The wait was almost pleasant, though, because the waiting room was so uniquely decorated with posters from actors and dancers the doctor has treated. There is a radiology practice in the building, which was very convenient. He was able to send me right down for x-rays and review the images immediately. There is also a pharmacy in the building.
