Dr. Peter H. Lehmann is an optometrist who specializes in general optometry, dry eye and contact lenses. As a triathlete and masters swimmer, Dr. Lehmann understands the special needs of athletes and how important good vision is in sports-related activities. He works closely with athletes to ensure that their vision enhances their performance and does not serve as a barrier to excelling in their chosen sports.
Dr. Lehmann is a native of Chicago and received his Bachelor Degrees in Biology and Pre-Medicine in 1996 from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. While attending college, he was a member of the Varsity Swim Team. Dr. Lehmann attended Optometry School at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. He graduated in the top-10 of his class and became a member of the Gold Key Optometric Society. Dr. Lehmann also received a VSP Academic Excellence Scholarship.
Dr. Lehmann has served the needs of military veterans during his external rotations at the Yale School of Medicine and West Haven VA Medical Center in Connecticut. He continued his rotations in Pennsylvania at the Lebanon VA Medical Center. Dr. Lehmann completed his pediatric training at the University of Chicago Children’s Eye Clinic. After graduating Optometry School with honors in 2000, Dr. Lehmann completed his hospital-based residency in St. Petersburg, Florida, at the Bay Pines VA Medical Center. While at the medical center, Dr. Lehmann worked closely with patients in the treatment of ocular diseases, geriatric eye care and pre- and post-operative eye care.
After his residency, Dr. Lehmann practiced at a large ophthalmology clinic in St. Petersburg, Florida. He relocated to Boulder in 2009, joined Boulder Eyes in November of that year, and has been working there ever since.
