Dr. Rajeev Agarwal underwent medical schooling at India’s premier institute of medical sciences, AIIMS, in New Delhi. He completed his residency in Pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. To further his learning in subspecialty medicine he joined the fellowship program in Pediatric Nephrology at The University of Florida at Gainesville. Under the program he also conducted bench research at Ohio State University.
He worked on the Eastern Shore of Virginia for eight years in general pediatrics before moving to the valley of the Sun to establish the Desert Ridge Children’s Center in 2005. Amidst all the challenges of running an independent practice, Dr. Agarwal has consistently offered top quality services at his office maintaining a personal rapport with his patients and their families. He has been duly recognized by the medical community as well as his patients, being named the ‘Top Doc’ for the year 2010-2011, in addition to being awarded Patients’ Choice Award consecutively for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010.
In addition to his deep commitment to serving the pediatric population in the valley, Dr. Agarwal maintains a strong interest in Ayurveda, India’s ancient holistic tradition of medicine. He is a strong advocate of breast feeding as a modality for prevention of future disease. He has a keen interest in learning about the mechanics of breastfeeding and performs tongue tie procedure to help mothers and babies have a fulfilling breastfeeding experience.
Apart from his academic interests he loves to have ‘fun’ at work and believes that teaching life skills to children by good role modelling is an essential part of his contribution to society. He loves to paint, read and travel.
