Ramaraja Yalavarthi, M.D. is board certified in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. He participated in a psychiatry residency at Stony Brook University in New York and an internal medicine residency at Louis Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Yalavarthi has held teaching appointments at Chicago’s Abraham Lincoln School of Medicine and Midwestern University. He served on the Board of Trustees for the Chicago Medical Society and two terms as President of the South Cook County Branch. In addition, he has served as a delegate for the American Medical Association and Illinois State Medical Society and also on the Board of Trustees for the India Medical Association of Illinois.
With nearly 40 years of medical experience, Dr. Yalavarthi has held leadership positions at both St. James Hospital & Health Center and Advocate South Suburban Hospital. Dr. Yalavarthi received the American Medical Association’s Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award and was also recognized in 2005 as Physician of the Year by St. James Hospital & Health Center. H e is on staff at Silver Cross Hospital — a 100 Top Hospitals National Award winner for seven consecutive years.
