Dr. Reed Maxwell earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Binghamton University (May 2017) and completed his doctoral internship at University of Rochester Medical Center. He uses a variety of evidence-based techniques to treat problems in work, love, and life. Dr. Maxwell is experienced in cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and third wave therapies (e.g., acceptance and commitment therapy).
Dr. Maxwell works with the client to set treatment goals and actively evaluates progress over the course of therapy. His work is patient-centered and patient-empowering. Dr. Maxwell’s specialties include mood and anxiety disorders and personality disorders.
He is a member of the Principium Psychiatry practice group led by Ziv E. Cohen, MD., a board-certified psychiatrist on the faculty of Cornell and Columbia Universities and New York Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Maxwell is also a postdoctoral research associate of psychology in psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine’s Personality Disorders Institute and a psychoanalytic fellow at Columbia University
