Rita Weiss, MD, PhD, is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist who earned her Bachelor's Degree from Brooklyn College and her Medical Degree from Universidad de Monterrey Facultad de Medicina, receiving first-place academic honors. After medical school, Dr. Weiss completed her Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, NY. She then completed her Fellowship in Medical Oncology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, with the final year dedicated to clinical research for the American Cancer Society. Additionally, Dr. Weiss earned her Doctorate of Philosophy from New York University. Prior to her employment with New York Cancer and Blood Specialists, Dr. Weiss served on the IPA Board at North Shore University Hospital. She has held numerous academic appointments, including clinical instructor at Cornell University Medical College, assistant professor at New York University, and clinical assistant professor at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Weiss was previously Chairman and Director of the Department of Hematology/Oncology at St. Francis Hospital, an investigator for the Cancer and Leukemia Group B, and a participant in the Community Clinical Oncology Program at North Shore University. She is currently a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
