Robert Lee Ebeling III, MD has spent the last years completing his residency in Radiation Oncology at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA. While there for a relatively short time, he honed his skills in the most advanced technologies available today, including Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), Gamma Knife radiosurgery, IMRT, and High Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy.
At Tufts, he served on the Radiation Oncology “Practices and Means” committee, helping write guidelines for appropriate Gamma Knife utility and training residents in the hands on application of this highly focused treatment modality. He has personally treated >100 patients with the Gamma Knife for both malignant brain tumors as well as non-malignant diseases such as Vestibular Schwannoma and Trigeminal Neuralgia.
He also has extensive training in the latest HDR technologies for breast treatment including both internal (Mammosite, Contura) and external brachytherapy (Accuboost), as well as Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation (APBI) techniques. Brachytherapy is also used extensively in GYN cancers such as Cervix and Endometrial cancer, and Dr. Ebeling has given lectures on his experience as well as the proper use of HDR for GYN cancers.
Dr. Ebeling enjoys cooking and baking; he has attended two culinary schools and apprenticed as a chef in Umbria, Italy. He has a love for the outdoors and can be found fly-fishing, hunting, running, as well simply enjoying the sounds of the outdoors. After living most of his life in Texas, where he met his wife, the couple moved to Boston during his residency. They are very excited to be back in the South and are expecting the newest addition to their family this fall.
