About Dr. Robert Edelman
Robert Edelman, MD, FACS, has been a urologist on Long Island for 43 years. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University. He completed both his internship and fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center. His sub-specialties include diagnosing and treating prostate cancer, cryotherapy of the prostate, and managing urological stone disease. Dr. Edelman developed his communication skills while driving a yellow cab as a student at Brooklyn College in New York City. He learned how to connect with people from all walks of life and has used those skills to better understand and treat the physical and emotional problems of his patients. Dr. Edelman’s goal as a urologist is not only to treat urological diseases but also to develop long-lasting, trusting relationships with his patients and their families.

The receptionist was very nice and I did check in, in advance. I waited for an hour while the entire waiting room cleared out twice until I was finally called. The woman that called me was elderly, did not introduce herself as anything, walked me to a room and began asking questions. She was very preoccupied. Running around looking for office supplies, taking blood from another patient...constantly running out of the room. She didn't apologize for her behavior at all and I felt in the way. Then she runs in the room says lower your pants I'm going to do a test. At that point I got upset and said for what since she didn't even listen to what was wrong. That's when I demanded to see the doctor. He was great, listened to my issue, did an exam and gave a diagnosis but this woman that thinks she's a nurse has got to go.

Everyone on the staff was professional and very friendly. Dr. Edelman introduced himself and eased my mind with his personality before getting to the examination. He was very thorough with the exam and his explanation. This was as pleasant a visit as I could have had.

I was very comfortable with Dr. Edelman. He and his staff were very supportive and professional. I would, however, ask the patient if he or she is okay with an intern also in the office while you are being examined. The intern was unexpected, and I was a little uncomfortable.

The attention from the doctor and staff is very friendly and they make you feel confident, the only thing is that they create you a mychart profile but they don't give you in the office the code o explain you how to follow your records or trace your exams results.

Coming to this office was a breathe of fresh air the entire staff including the doctor made you feel at home and most importantly answered all my concerns as well as did there best to find a solution. What a pleasure! What a nice guy! I felt so comfortable with this man, I felt like we were old friends.
He knows his art and he knows his practice. The superb automation in there meant that the doctor could practice ‘top of license’.
My only regret is that I am away and seeing him on my vacation. I wish he could be my regular urologist but that’s not possible.
But all I can say is this fellow is capable, helpful and also - and this is no accident- runs his office with such a high level of morale that his staff actually enjoy their careers there. I saw it!

Dr. Edelman was great! Great bedside manner. Took his time to listen to me and talk to me. He did not rush me out. Very friendly and professional. Highly recommend him! The office staff was good. I was running late because of traffic and they waited for me. They were so nice! In most offices they would have made me reschedule my appointment!
