I asked the doctor for a prescription for a certain weight loss treatment. The doctor refused to issue subscription as he is not recommending using substances to add weight loss and directed me towards an app. While he was friendly and knowledgeable he didn’t help me with my request.
Dr. Bernstein is very friendly & provides appropriate communication exchanges, giving patient opportunity to ad k questions & then fully responds
Honestly I don’t know how there’s so many good reviews for this doctor, he was unbelievably rude, zero social skills, seemed rough during the physical checkup, condescending, angry and dismissive to whenever I said something or asked a question, do not see this doctor,
doctor did not look at medical history and assumed i was a new patient. i have had the disease for over 20 years. also argued about how tests worked (note: tests do have false positives and negatives). final straw was not filling prescriptions for durable medical equipment. he instructed his office to ignore the fax from the company because he thought it was a scam. had he payed any attention during the appointment or numerous phone calls afterward trying to correct the situation he would have known they were coming. was then sent to a separate establishment for all lab work which was then a billing nightmare.

Unprofessional,Rude, condescending. If the person has an issue don't automatically talk down on a health issue. No one see's a specialist by choice especially with Hashimotos which does affect your sleep and energy levels. Not it's a psychological problem and who comments on someone's mask slipping don't comment on a meme and then proceed to tell them they should get one that works. Don't downplay someones health let alone paperwork, don't be rude at all because you're dragging your feet to be there. If it wasn't for the nurses honestly I would've walked out and skipped bloodwork. I love Mount Sinai but this is an L, I never write reviews but this struck a cord in me and don't waste your time with someone. I've never had a doctor like this before and I don't plan in proceeding. Once my bloodwork comes in, I'm asking for a referral. One professional to another, come correct or don't come at all. the

He was professional, quick, and efficient
This MD could use a refresher course on how to speak to and not trigger patients with eating disorders who mention emphatically that they do not go on scales because they make them go back into restrictive/ self harmful behavior. I also was adamant that I did not know where my weight range was whether it was “healthy” or not bc healthy to an anorexic translates to fat and or loss of control. He went on to say he wasn’t worried about my weight making me so upset and then pinched my arms and said- oh there is definitely enough fat there. In this day and age doctors, educators, parents all need to have a better grasp on how potentially harmful and triggering words can be and need to learn this. Maybe this is why he works in that dirty hospital and not in his own private office.

Dr. Bernstein is the best doctor. He is kind, caring, thoughtful, thorough, VERY punctual, patient, efficient, smart and insightful. He answers my questions thoroughly in the office and via email (and so quickly). He sends me my test results, and prescriptions promptly (usually the very next day). He does not keep you waiting for your appt. He uses technology which makes things more efficient and easier for me, and he is a very nice person. I have been seeing him for many years and I highly recommend him. I wish going to every doctor was like going to Dr. Bernstein.
Verified patient
This appears to be a physician who is near retirement and not very up on otc or supplements. His manner is stiff and he spent most of the time staring at his computer screen. He seems otherwise a typical clinician. If you are seeking someone very old school and traditional, he may be a good option. I'm a physician and feel that this doctor is better off retiring.
He listened and confirmed what I suspected. I love doctors who see the issue and offer suggestions on how to solve the problem. If you go to meet with him make sure you have your records in order so that he can follow your history, not waste time, and give you the right recommendations.

I went for some blood tests and I feel I had to really assert myself to get them done and I still didn't get all of them done. I am missing three I believe. The whole ordeal was stressful for me and I also had to go to another part of the hospital to get my blood work done because the nurse couldn't do it. I definitely feel unsatisfactory in how I was treated and although the wait time was decent, the extra wait time of an hour to get my blood drawn in the other section, is something one might have to do when doing blood work there. I believe that if you ask for something because you have had difficulty in finding answers, the doctor should listen and give you what you are asking for within reason. I believe in my opinion, I was not heard and now I have to go to another doctor to get proper testing done for the specific hormones or glycoproteins I would like to know about. At least I have some results for the other hormones so I can eliminate those and continue my journey towards a proper diagnosis.

I have been going to Dr Bernstein for many years. He is very smart, thoughtful, punctual, and helpful. Top notch person and doctor.
Verified patient
Very competent and professional. If you need a cuddly teddy-bear type of bed side manner maybe not your guy, lol. But I don't care about that. I just want an expert endocrinologist and he seems to be that.
Verified patient
Dr. Robert S. Bernstein was knowledgeable, professional and willing to listen and help. He even recommended me a place to make additional investigation for something else. I am happy that I choose to come to his office for consultation. And more, the office assistant was very nice and helpful.
Verified patient
Dr. Bernstein, besides being highly competent, is one heckuva nice man, it I s a pleasure to be his patient. I highly recommend him.
Verified patient
Very knowledgable and easy to talk to.
Verified patient
Fantastic!  Of course, as you visit the office, you might get an impression that no one know or cares about how things are running in this facility.  But, It's completely the opposite: From the Nurse to the receptionist and all the way to Doctor Bernstein, everyone knows exactly what they are doing, all professional, courteous, friendly and accommodating.  As far as the Doctor himself, you will find an attentive, very knowledgeable and fully professional.  You can trust this Doctor at 100% for his diagnoses and follow up.  I highly recommend this Doctor and his mount Sinai affiliation.
Verified patient
very judgmental, little to no bed side manner
I've been seeing Dr Bernstein for thyroid issues for about 25 years (he treated my Graves Disease and the resulting hypothyroid). I trust his knowledge base, and that he bases his treatment on his own clinical observations as well as - and not solely on - test results.
Verified patient
Extremely knowledgable.
Verified patient
We believed the doctor was attentive and informative on the topic we presented. He also was very patient with us and took time to answer every question we had. I was very pleased.
Verified patient
Dr. Bernstein really took the time to listen and explain, and didn't rush to prescribe unnecessary medication. He laid out all the options and left the decision in my hands, which I appreciated. The nurse was also very friendly and conversational, which I appreciated. The woman who worked at the front desk when I arrived, was pretty abrupt and not welcoming, but don't let that dissuade you from the place overall!
He listened and asked a lot of questions, too. It was a good visit. All of the staff at the office are wonderful, the nicest at any office I've ever been to.
