I went for some blood tests and I feel I had to really assert myself to get them done and I still didn't get all of them done. I am missing three I believe. The whole ordeal was stressful for meand I also had to go to another part of the hospital to get my blood work done because the nurse couldn't do it. I definitely feel unsatisfactory in how I was treated and although the wait time was decent, the extra wait time of an hour to get my blood drawn in the other section, is something one might have to do when doing blood work there. I believe that if you ask for something because you have had difficulty in finding answers, the doctor should listen and give you what you are asking for within reason. I believe in my opinion, I was not heard and now I have to go to another doctor to get proper testing done for the specific hormones or glycoproteins I would like to know about. At least I have some results for the other hormones so I can eliminate those and continue my journey towards a proper diagnosis.

He listened and confirmed what I suspected. I love doctors who see the issue and offer suggestions on how to solve the problem. If you go to meet with him make sure you have your records in order so that hecan follow your history, not waste time, and give you the right recommendations.

Very competent and professional. If you need a cuddly teddy-bear type of bed side manner maybe not your guy, lol. But I don't care about that. I just want an expert endocrinologist and he seems to be that.

Dr. Robert S. Bernstein was knowledgeable, professional and willing to listen and help. He even recommended me a place to make additional investigation for something else. I am happy that I choose to come to his office for consultation. And more, the office assistant was very nice and helpful.

Fantastic! Of course, as you visit the office, you might get an impression that no one know or cares about how things are running in this facility. But, It's completely the opposite: From the Nurse to the receptionist and all theway to Doctor Bernstein, everyone knows exactly what they are doing, all professional, courteous, friendly and accommodating. As far as the Doctor himself, you will find an attentive, very knowledgeable and fully professional. You can trust this Doctor at 100% for his diagnoses and follow up. I highly recommend this Doctor and his mount Sinai affiliation.

I've been seeing Dr Bernstein for thyroid issues for about 25 years (he treated my Graves Disease and the resulting hypothyroid). I trust his knowledge base, and that he bases his treatment on his own clinical observations as well as - and not solely on - test results.

Dr. Bernstein really took the time to listen and explain, and didn't rush to prescribe unnecessary medication. He laid out all the options and left the decision in my hands, which I appreciated. The nurse was also very friendly and conversational, which I appreciated. The woman who worked at the front desk when I arrived, was pretty abrupt and not welcoming, but don't let that dissuade you from the place overall!

He told me to get off the medication for 2 weeks to see the blood test, NOT decrease to a smaller dose but GET OFF Thyroid Medication completely. I remember last time I took less prescription of what I needed Iwas depressed, lost tons of hair, had itchy dry skin and gain 15 pounds! I came to refill my prescription with blood work in hand, I has only few pills left and he refused to give me the medication. Very unpleasant guy who doesn't like people and his work. Then when I was paying my co-pay (why did I pay it???) and they asked me if I should make another appointment in 2 weeks. I saw the same doctor raising a voice on the old lady who was almost in tears to get her medication. I would NEVER go back. I went to my old doctor (who doesn't accept my new insurance) and paid CASH for the visit the same day to get me my medication. That smile is fake. Run away from this doctor!

Waited roughly 15 minutes to be called to see the nurse then about 10 minutes to be seen by Dr. Bernstein to go over the results of the bloodwork my dermatologist had requested. He explained everything in detail, pretty straightforward withoutall the frills, but decided to have more tests done since he felt the ones my dermatologist had sent me for weren't enough for a proper diagnosis. I was pleased that I can get my blood drawn right there in his office instead of having to go to a lab to get the tests done. I'll be back in a week for the results.

I brought lab results from my primary doctor and Dr. Bernstein didn't even care to discuss them with me. It was my first visit and he didn't even introduce himself upon entering the room. The reason I went to see himas my endocrinologist, was because my symptoms + the lab results are evidence that something is going on with my health. He didn't listen, and instead of talking to me about my symptoms and what my understanding of the process going on was, he interrogated my reason for visiting, to a point where it was accusatory. When I tried to ask him questions, he was dismissive. I'm also in medicine and didn't mention it to him because I didn't want to bias what I assumed would be an evidence-based opinion. He wasn't nearly thorough enough with the few questions that he did end up attempting to answer. This guy's way of practicing medicine in the 21st century is archaic and it's time for him to retire. I'll be finding another endocrinologist. Unfortunately, the rating system for this doctor here on ZocDoc doesn't take into consideration the horrible reviews he has elsewhere. Had I known, I would've factored those into my decision before I saw him.

Disgusted. He treated me like canned dog food. Does not listen, disinterested & verbally attacked and devoured every word that came out of my mouth. He should retire being his entire attitude expressed no concern for myself the patient whatsoever,I even provided the results of my own blood work. All I wanted was a new script for synthroid, being I have Hashimotos. I have never been so humiliated, I think he got what he wanted: to get rid of the cash-only patient who is not worth his time. I deserve an apology. Disgusting.

Doctor was incredibly rude. Never introduced himself. Immediately began quizzing me and when I would answer, he would tell me that was not a good answer. I was asked about medications I had taken in the past and wasn't sure ifit was 87 or 88mg and when I said 87 he laughed and said that's not a real dose even you don't know what you are talking about. I have never written a review before but want to warn anyone else about spending your money, time, and trust here.

I have been going to Dr Bernstein for about 15 years. I think he's a first rate doctor and person. I trust his diagnosis/opinion, and I think he is patient, kind and he really cares. I would and do recommend him, without a second's hesitation, to anyone looking for an endocrinologist. He is also incredibly prompt and respectful of his patients' time/schedules, which is definitely rare and very wonderful in a doctor.

Dr Bernstein has an efficient office staff. The tech who took vitals and drew my blood was friendly and professional. He even got my vein on the first try, which is something others have had difficulty with. Dr. Bernstein takes thetime to talk about any concerns I have. The only reason I had to wait this time was that I had gotten there early. Also I have been able to get appointments with him at a time that is convenient for me.

I've never written a review of anyone online before, but I feel the need to warn people against going to this Dr. I've been feeling awful for weeks, waiting to see this Endocrinologist, hoping that he would have something helpful tosay, instead he dismissed my concerns as unimportant and seemed completely uninterested in being my Dr. or helping me to feel better. He knows nothing about the new theories on thyroid disorders and testing and instead practices out of completely antiquated ideas about the diseases associated with them. He made me feel like I was complaining and that all of my symptoms were in my head, before even giving me an exam. I left feeling twice as bad as I did before I saw him, because now I felt that there was no hope or answers out there as to why I've been feeling so awful. I've been to incompetent Dr.'s before, but never one that was completely uninterested in his job, his patients, was dismissive & incompetent. Bottom line-he needs to retire. Do not waste your time or money on this man.
