He addressed all my concerns and went beyond just my initial complaints to make sure that he investigated all possible causes of my symptoms which left me feeling optimistic about my course of treatment. I’ve had several ENT docs over the years and Dr. Spears is at the top of my list of ENTs to recommend.

Dr. Spears received his Otolaryngology residency training at the Medical College of Georgia and is Board Certified. Upon completion of residency, he joined the practice in 1995. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. Dr. Spears is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. I was told my diagnosis before I was even examined. I was also told what medications I was going to be prescribed before being examined and before asking me what medications I was already on for my condition. I had to tell Dr.Spears that I was already on the same type of medication he wanted to prescribe me. This could have been dangerous if I hadn't known the drugs were similar. I felt rushed and did not get all of my questions answered. Seemed like he was more interested in LSU football than my condition. Unfortunately, I won't be going back.

Everyone in the office was very nice and professional. We were seen right away after filling out our forms. My daughter went in for a thorough ear cleaning. They procedure didn't take long. Everything was explained. We went ahead and did her hearing test as well. Again everything was explained. There was ample opportunity to ask questions. The check-out process was very quick as well. I think we were in and out in less than an hour.

Over a two hour wait while hearing the lady in the next room and the doctor having a rather loud discussion about whether she was just imagining her symptoms. Nurse for the visit had to redo my tests three times because she wasn't paying attention/was in a hurry to get to lunch. Unlikely to return.

He's fun, bluntly spoken and seeming honest. He apologized for prior staff who, three years prior, recommended hearing aids which he said I may not need at all. Additional testing to be done.

Dr. Spears didn't listen. (This is just my personal experience with him. Other patients may think otherwise.) First thing he does walking into the exam room is touch my bra strap, mentioning football colors. But that didn't offend me nearly as much as how proud he was to proclaim that he doesn't apologize for his unprofessional personality and he doesn't care how it affects patients. he said that's just who he is so too bad. The battery on his scope went out just as he starts to examine me. He doesn't bother to fix it or recheck and says, "oh well it's good enough. I saw enough." Maybe he did see enough. But maybe not. Why not respect the 1 1/2 hours I waited and be certain and talk me through why he did what he did instead of harass me into a scary(for me) treatment. If I had any signal that he was listening I may have trusted him and been receptive. His diagnoses could be perfect but how can I put myself through that again?

Even though I pre registered thru ZocDoc, I still had to fill out all the forms (electronically). So I wound up registering twice. I'm not sure I find much value in this.

After waiting over an hour in waiting room, a medical assistant brought us back to the pre exam room, asked lots of questions, got my daughter's history, etc. Then back to the waiting room for another long wait. By the time we saw Dr. Spears, it was late (after 5; her appt was at 3). He introduced himself and right away told us he's a "coon ass", country boy, hoped he didn't offend us, etc. Would NOT let my daughter complete a thought before interrupting her, talking over her. He needs to listen to his patients and not talk over them.

Dr Spears is an amazing doctor. He took his time to answer each and every one of my questions. I was so nervous about having my tonsils removed, but he assured me everything would be okay, made me laugh, and joked. He treated me like a friend and made me feel welcomed, and I was no longer anxious. I'll never go to another ENT. I'll be taking my son to see him soon. Good doctors are hard to come by. Dr Spears is easily likable.

I enjoy seeing him for my 1 1/2 year old and she loves him as well as all of the nurses. Making appointments and scheduling surgeries are done quickly and efficiently. My daughter has been his patient for one year and we have never had any issues. I love how strait forward Dr. Spears is and the way he prepares parents for the worst so there are no shocks or false hope. He also never doubts a parent when they feel something is wrong. He gets answers!
