It was fine, a little old school but I left with avision care prescription and we'll see how well my glasses work. I used this clinic because they accept partial payment from my Providence Medicare Advantage Plan and my previous vision care provider did not.

"Helping a patient with a difficult contact lens problem and seeing a smile when we’ve solved it is the highlight of my day."
Dr. Hampel is the Eastside contact lens expert. He practices comprehensive optometry with an emphasis on complex contact lens challenges.
Dr. Hampel grew up in Canada, and has been with EyeHealth Northwest since 2004. He loves working here because "It's like being on a team where everything just works. The doctors and staff are great at what they do and they're also nice people."
After a rewarding eight-year career as a journalist with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, he changed course to become an optometrist. His journalism experience is a perfect complement to his optometry practice. He has a knack for distilling complex medical information into knowledge his patients can use.
"A big part of my job is understanding the patient’s needs right from the start." Being aware of the patient's overall medical history and lifestyle ensures the best fit for each person's visual needs at work and play. As a result, Dr. Hampel takes his time and pays close attention to detail in order to gain a complete and accurate history. His friendly and good-natured personality helps patients feel comfortable to speak openly.

I do not understand what happened in my visit to the optometrist, the main reason for this visit was to do a test to use contact lenses, but I do not know what happened in the end what they did was the test to use eyeglasses

Please be aware that they cannot write a prescription for contact lenses at this office!! You will have to make another appointment with another doctor if you need a contact prescription! (This is not something that was explained to me when I made the appointment AND I feel that this is highly unusual for an optometrist)
This was my first appointment at this office and it was also the first time in my 20 years of eye appointment experience that a tech completed the large majority of exam. Both the doctor and tech were extremely friendly, but the tech was unable to answer the majority of my questions & with the doctor I struggled to blurt out my questions between non-stop chatting about trivial topics. When I did get my questions out, I was made to feel silly for being so concerned... about my EYE SIGHT.
Overall for a basic check up, this place is fine - I would recommend it for young kids. But if you need contacts or just would like an in-depth consultation, I would go somewhere else.

Mildly personal, Dr Hampel likes to address his patients by their first name far better than any doctor I've known in this area. He must have reviewed my records before my appointment and make recommendation that is to my benefit. All this and still very professional.

I have a prescription that many eye doctors have balked at trying to figure out. But not Dr. Hampel. I have been going to him exclusively for the last 8+ years and he has tried every combination of contacts available in my prescription in order to help me find the best vision with the most comfort. I highly recommend him for his patience, good nature, knowledge and perseverance.

My visit was ok. A technician performed 95% of my exam, and at the very end, Dr Hampel looked inside my dilated eyes with the very bright light and the magnifying glass type thing. It was the very end of the day and my freeway drive to the office was exhausting and frustrating. The doctor's office has nothing to do w/ that, of course but I cant help but think it would have been a different kind of visit under difference circumstances. This isn't the best eye doctor I've been to, but he wasn't the worst either.... I don't have my lenses yet so I don't know how I feel about the result in terms of being able to see clearly until I get my prescription.

Dr. Hampel was a chill down to earth guy, I came in, we chit chatted for a few, joked around informally etc. However he was very good and professional, the whole process took 20-30 min maybe, he answered any questions I had and sent me on my way, no fuss no muss, I was in and out in about an hour. Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I wish more doctors were like this.

The front lady was very nice and because I filled out my paperwork through Zocdoc I did not have to fill out any forms. The initial techs could be a bit more personable but Dr Hampel was Awesome! He is very nice, and really thorough with the exam making sure my prescription is perfect. Also the lady who helped me order my glasses was very nice and they have all the latest frames and lens options.

I think he was a great doctor besides the fact that after the 1.5 hour appointment he thought I didnt want a prescription.... I am pissed about this. Now I have to go back and get it when i should have just had it done TODAY. Its unbelievable...

The receptionist was great the doctor was great it was the doctors assistance that was a turn off. She did not communicate clearly waft was going on ( mumbling, talking way to fast, no eye contact, horrible bedside manor and attitude. She was not a people person and it showed!) when I did asker her questions or tried to ask her to repeat what she said she continued to talk fast and unclear ( had Indian accent that made it difficult for ME to understand her. She treated me as if I was supposed to know exactly what to do for a regular basic eye exam! I think I have had 3 eye exams in the past 20 years! Total turn off, I will never return to this office!!!!!

He was polite but dismissive. I let him know I had allergies and he didn't take my concerns seriously. He gave me eye drops that contained an allergen and I had a reaction that caused me to have to leave before I could fully get finished ordering my glasses. I needed to leave to get benadryl.
