Ronald A. Valdez, M.D., is a founding member of the Institute for Women’s Health and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He graduated magna cum laude from St. Mary’s University, San Antonio, and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Valdez completed a rotating internship and an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Texas Tech Regional Academic Health Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and completes an annual re-certification to maintain this distinction.
Dr. Valdez is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the Bexar County Medical Society, the Texas Medical Association and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is the former chief of services for the Department of Gynecology at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital and former chairman of Baptist Health System’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, where he also chaired the Audit Policy Committee.
Dr. Valdez offers minimally invasive surgery and da Vinci robotic surgery for many gynecologic conditions, and is available for consultations with patients considering gynecologic surgery. He also offers an in-office procedure for abnormal uterine bleeding as an alternative to performing a hysterectomy. Dr. Valdez is married with three children and enjoys outdoor activities. He is also involved with charitable causes, most notably through his role as a founding board member of Children in Need, an organization that provides funds, housing, equipment and medical supplies to HIV-ravaged Zambia, Africa.
