I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist and have a private practice near Union Square. I completed my Psychiatry residency at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital and have trained as a psychodynamic psychotherapist at the Institute of Psychoanalytic Education at NYU.
I treat a range of of issues including anxiety, depression, inhibition at work and difficulty in relationships. Drawing on my clients’ past experiences, I am able to guide them through the present difficulty, by making certain patterns of behavior and feeling more obvious to them. Aside from enhanced awareness, a warm and trusting therapeutic relationship with the therapist is the key to a long lasting transformation. My goal is to help my clients find relief from their symptoms, overcome a sense of feeling stuck and increase self awareness. The ultimate goal of any therapy is to achieve a greater degree of freedom in making ones decisions.
I find working with young adults most gratifying.
I am trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy (talk therapy) as well as prescribing medications. I will consider treatment with medications when it is warranted and will employ them only when symptoms come in the way of talking and working through an issue. Ideally, medications should be used as a temporary measure to help you go through a rough patch.
I am not on any insurance panel but if you have an insurance that offers out-of-network benefits, I will provide the necessary paperwork you need to file for reimbursement.
