Dr. Ruonan Zhang is one of the senior acupuncturists at the highly regarded Tao Center for Integrative Medicine. She recognizes that multiple factors contribute to health conditions—including dietary habit, life style, emotional trauma and distress, compromised immune function, chemical toxicities and genetic predispositions.
Dr. Zhang works closely with other physicians, which makes her treatment a best complement to conventional medicine. While her extensive training enables her to treat all kinds of challenging health conditions, Dr. Zhang specializes in treating acute and chronic pain, fertility support and reproductive and gynecological conditions, the side effects of cancer treatments including surgeries, chemotherapies and radiation, Healthy aging support and emotional wellbeing, rehabilitation of stroke and spine injuries.
Dr. Zhang’s acupuncture treatment helps patients to reduce cravings for unhealthy food and substances, reduce stress and increase vitality, desensitize emotional sensitivity caused by past trauma, facilitate a natural metabolism and detoxification process, thereby reducing the expression of illness genes.
Dr. Zhang has over 15 years of clinical experience practicing acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and Western medicine. She is able to combine facets of both Eastern and Western medicine to provide customized treatment plans for each patient's condition. Dr. Zhang graduated from Shaanxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (China) with a MD degree. She then obtained a Masters degree in the Fourth Military Medical University on Integration of Chinese medicine and Western medicine for Cancer Care. She worked in China as an attending physician for years. Dr. Zhang came to United States in 2008 to join a team of acupuncturists led by Dr. Jingduan Yang, M.D. Since then Dr. Zhang has been working in Tao Integrative Medicine and Jefferson Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
