Ruth C. Johnson, M.D. is a Board Certified physician in Internal Medicine. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry from La Sierra University, California. She started her medical training at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and completed her medical degree at New York Medical College, Valhalla, New York through the Fifth Pathway Program. She completed he residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine – North General in Manhattan in July, 2007. She joined Hercules Medical in October 2007. Dr. Johnson is a member of the American Medical Association and American College of Physicians.
Dr. Johnson employs a thorough approach to her patient’s medical concerns. Through her experience she takes pride in advocating for her patients whether it be with their insurance company, employer, or other specialists. Dr. Johnson believes that the practice of medicine should be for the benefit of the patient. She is exceptionally thorough, will spend as much time as necessary with each patient, and try to answer completely all questions. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

Dr Johnson was amazing. I have had digestive challenges for 30 years and have seen numerous “specialists “. None of them come close to her proficiency and knowledge of the system and ailments. I’m very pleased with the care and service so far. This was my first visit. I am looking forward to continuing my treatment with Dr Johnson.
The waiting room is immaculate. Diffuser, calming music, no one was there. I felt very safe from possible Covid. Extremely clean.
Marlee and (I apologize) the assistant who took my blood and tested me were amazing, professional, polite, friendly. The treatment rooms are super clean, non cluttered, new technology, no paperwork, online. Beautiful!
Wonderful experience and I hope for great results!

I was a patient at this practice for the past few months. I was advised to buy some vitamins that they sell, and used my PayFlex credit card to purchase them. PayFlex did not accept the purchase-- saying I needed to provide a letter of medical necessity. Seemed simple and straightforward enough. After 16 calls and many emails, I still do not have the letter. Every time I call or email, they say I will have the letter within the hour. Still waiting. Oh, and now my PayFlex card is now suspended because I have not provided the letter.
To top it all off? I waited more than an hour to see the doctor on my initial doctor visit.

They're always amazing. Everyone is friendly and personable from the second I walk in and Dr. Johnson takes the time to ask me about my work, home etc. I never feel rushed and always feel like they respect my time.

Dr. Johnson is great - but the office is really disorganized, which makes for a frustrating experience. I've had multiple situations where my appointment was just cancelled and thus had to wait 30 minutes or more at the office for them to see me. They will cancel/reschedule without even letting you know. In addition, I got some bloodwork done and when I went in to get the lab results, it turns out that the results weren't even there - so it was a waste of my time and a trip into the office. They could have at least called to explain that they needed more time. It's unfortunate because Dr. Johnson is very nice and a good doctor, but I may stop going in given the negative experience I've had with appointments and organization.

I went in to get checked out for a back injury, but was encouraged to get blood tests done to determine what supplements I needed. It was suggested to me that I *especially* needed supplements because both of my parents have (non-hereditary) forms of cancer. Some people may appreciate this, but it felt scam-y to me. Throughout the visit, I heard FIVE different versions of my name. (not to mention a misspelling of my name on two scripts, totally wrong name on the other two) Granted, it's a two-name first name, but it's made up of two super common, easy to pronounce names. Also be sure to double check if your insurance is accepted. This doctor came up on a search for my insurance plan, but when I got to the appointment, I was informed that she was out of network. Something seemed off about this place for sure.

Dr. Ruth and staff are very helpful and take great care of patients. My second time here, she did a great job diagnosing me with Lyme disease last year (I had a ton of complex symptoms) and recommended to the another specialist for treatment. Overall I highly recommend Dr.Ruth and I'm happy I have a great doctor in the city to go to !

I've now seen Dr. Ruth twice- She's fantastic! I truly appreciate doctors who sit you down and talk to you personably. We explored different issues and concerns and when results came back, she took me through step by step, vitamin by vitamin, and explained everything. I feel informed, not on a cursory level, but rather, in depth. I actually understand how different things in my body and environment affect my health and what I can do to make sure everything stays in good shape. She is also very knowledgable and helpful with the problems insurance can cause.
I would highly recommend her and the staff at her office to anyone who needs a doctor. I had been nervous about finding a doctor in a new city on my own, but thank goodness I picked a good one right off the bat!

Very misleading in terms of health insurance acceptance: explicitly stated that Dr. Johnson accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield but in turns out that she does not accept any insurance as an in-network provider and instead bills everything as out of network.

Doc Johnson is very nice and professional. However, her staff are unprofessional/ unclean (wiped her gloves on her pants before procedure), and the front desk spent lot of time joking around stead of taking care of the paper work. I also dislike how the doc is promoting unnecessary test and supplements.
