What should a new client know about working with you?

Seeking mental health care takes real courage, and I deeply respect that decision. As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in medication management, I've built my practice around helping individuals achieve symptom relief and reclaim their lives through expert, compassionate care. What sets my approach apart is that I see you as a whole person facing real challenges—not just a diagnosis. Mental health struggles touch every part of life: your career, relationships, self-esteem, physical health, and daily functioning. My goal is improving not only your mood, but your entire quality of life, with medication serving as one important piece of a broader wellness strategy. I also welcome discussions about therapy, lifestyle adjustments, and other supportive approaches. In our work together, expect a true collaboration where your perspective is respected and your concerns are taken seriously. I conduct comprehensive evaluations, stay up to date on the latest research in psychopharmacology, and prescribe thoughtfully based on your unique circumstances. I'm transparent about what treatment can realistically achieve, straightforward about timelines, and honest about potential side effects. I also prioritize consistent monitoring and open communication so we can adjust your plan as needed. No two people respond to treatment the same way, and I remain flexible to ensure your care evolves with you. Beyond clinical expertise, I bring empathy, patience, and a nonjudgmental presence to every session—providing steady guidance and genuine support as we work toward your goals together. Whether you're managing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, or another condition, I provide personalized treatment designed around your specific needs. I remain accessible between visits and am dedicated to ongoing care that strengthens your long-term stability and growth, helping you move from simply surviving to truly thriving.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our initial session is comprehensive, generally lasting 60 to 90 minutes. I conduct a thorough psychiatric assessment covering your current symptoms, how they're affecting your everyday life, and your complete psychiatric history — including prior treatments and medications. My goal is for you to leave that first appointment with a clear picture of where we're starting and a solid sense of the direction we're heading together. Because I'm trained as both a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Family Nurse Practitioner, I also gather a detailed medical history. Physical health conditions can meaningfully impact mental health, so I consider the full picture — and may order laboratory work when clinically appropriate. By the end of your first visit, I'll share my diagnostic impressions and walk through your treatment options. We'll decide together on the best path forward, whether that includes medication, therapy referrals, lifestyle changes, or some combination of all three. Follow-up sessions typically run 20 to 30 minutes and focus on medication management. We'll review how you've been doing, assess any side effects and symptom changes, and adjust your treatment plan as needed. When starting a new medication, we generally meet every two to four weeks. Once you've reached stability, visits transition to every one to three months. My practice centers on diagnostic evaluation and medication management rather than ongoing talk therapy. I strongly encourage all clients to work with a licensed therapist alongside medication management — this combination consistently produces the strongest outcomes. I collaborate closely with your therapist and primary care physician to ensure your care is well-coordinated and nothing falls through the cracks. Between visits, I'm reachable for pressing concerns, with messages returned within one to two business days. My commitment is evidence-based psychiatric care that supports lasting symptom relief.
