This was my first visit and I really liked Dr. Stoler. She did a full skin check and didn't lecture me on the number of years since my last check. She removed a skin tag, discussed several other skin issues, recommended a sunscreen and had me back in my car (via valet parking) 28 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. So efficient, and so thorough! And I loved that I was able to full out all the paperwork ahead of time on the website.

Dr. Samantha G. Stoler is a board-certified Dermatologist who joined AboutSkin after practicing for 4 years in a large dermatology group in metropolitan Chicago. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Stoler was honored with a Patient's Choice Award in 2009.
Dr. Stoler completed her Dermatology residency at Cook County Hospital, Illinois, in 2007. At Cook County she cared for a diverse patient population, saw a wide range of diseases, and had an extensive hands-on experience. She has been an active member of the Chicago Dermatology Society, presenting on laser therapy, vasculitis, and other case reports.
Dr. Stoler received her undergraduate degree in 1999 from the University of Michigan in biology, where she graduated with honors and was also selected as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She attended medical school at the State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate, in Brooklyn, and graduated magna cum laude in 2003. She was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society as a junior medical student, which allowed her to serve as treasurer of the society. While at SUNY Downstate, Dr. Stoler also did basic science research on keratinocytes (skin cells) and the production of nitric oxide.
Originally from Westchester, New York, Dr. Stoler decided to stay in Chicago following her dermatology residency. During her 4 years at Dermatology Partners of the North Shore, she focused on medical and surgical dermatology with a special interest in teenagers and acne. Over her years in Chicago, she built a loyal practice, and had the privilege of treating entire families.

She just wrote me a prescription and left without even looking at my face or seeing if my acne has gotten better or worse. Though I am glad to have my prescriptions, I didn't really feel like I even needed to drive half an hour just to sit for one minute and leave without Dr. Stoler's advice. I have dealt with many acne dermatologists who don't seem to have much regard for the underlying causes or type of acne I have and would have liked to know if perhaps there was a reason why it was futile to look at my face or do any other sort of photos. I left feeling frustrated.
