I recently relocated from Maui to Az to be closer to family. I was raised in Colorado, and lived in Maui for the past 4 years, after spending 20 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. Az is like a 2nd home, as my grandparents lived here from the early 1990s and my parents and in-laws have been here 20+ years.
My husband is a licensed marriage and family therapist (he’s a great referral source!) and provides behavioral health via tele-medicine from home, and I have a 5 yo spoiled pup named Stevie who has been in a wheelchair since she was 1.
I graduated from Univ of California at Davis/Sacramento Medical Campus (which houses one of the best Level-1 trauma centers) with my Physician Associate degree in 2005, and have my bachelors in Social Science from Colorado State Univ in Ft Collins, where my mom taught physiology. I grew up on the CSU campus, and that has influenced my love of learning and teaching. I took the MCAT for fun, as well as human cadaver dissection and physiology at Univ of CA at Berkeley. If being a student could be a career, or a sport, I would go Pro.
I’ve been providing care to a variety of patient populations in numerous fields for the past 20 years: hospital based care, trauma and reconstructive surgery and emergency room care, LGBTQ+ specialty services and HRT, family practice, geriatrics, psychiatry, women’s health, home-based primary care/house calls, and palliative care. I have a passion for working with at-risk and marginalized humans, I LOVE to teach, educate, and empower folks, and I believe strongly in the powers of preventative medicine. Much of my desire to serve and teach has been my motivation to engage in medical missions around the world. I served in the Peace Corps in 2016, working with rural villages and community healthcare centers in southern Zambia.
