Sarah Utz Petry, MD is a dermatologist committed to providing outstanding and personalized care to all of her patients. She practices medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology with a special interest in skin cancer detection and treatment, advanced dermoscopy, and pediatric dermatology.
A native of Minnesota, Dr. Petry graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Medieval and Renaissance Studies, completing part of her studies in Florence, Italy. During her sophomore year of college, she was accepted into the Humanities and Medicine Early Assurance Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in NYC, where she went on to complete her Doctor of Medicine. She became interested in dermatology during medical school and edited a textbook on a new approach to dermoscopy with her mentor, Dr. Orit Markowitz.
After completing a transitional year internship at John T. Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY she moved to Detroit, MI to continue her training in dermatology. Dr. Petry completed a three-year residency in general, pediatric, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology at Wayne State University.
