Shabbir Hossain, M.D., FACP, is a board-certified internal medicine physician. He graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada, and completed his residency at the Drexel University of Medicine, Philadelphia. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from New York University, New York City. Dr. Hossain has been practicing medicine since 2008 in locations across the country, including Plattsburgh, N.Y., Gilbert, Ariz, Vancouver, Wash, Presque Isle, Maine, and Ardmore, Okla. He currently is an assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern and is the medical director of the internal medicine clinic at Parkland Hospital, Dallas.
Dr. Hossain is excited to bring his clinical experience to Melissa and its neighboring communities. He believes in a team-based, patient-centered approach to providing medical care. He sees patients over 18 years of age, and his clinical interests include preventive medicine, men’s and women’s health, and chronic disease management. His philosophy of care is to blend patient-centered care with evidence-based medicine.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Hossain enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, watching sports and traveling.

I was seen before I finished my new patient paperwork. All staff was friendly and organized. Dr. Hossain was thorough and kind. I never felt rushed or pushed into any decision. His focus is on the patient as a whole, not just the immediate issue.

I am in my late 60's and saw Dr Hossain for the first time for an annual wellness physical. He was very thorough and took a lot of time with me to discuss anything I wanted to discuss. He asked lots of questions and was ready to provide any information or referrals I might want. And best of all, he didn't try to schedule me for a follow-up exam in 3 months, which is what many doctors do with their older patients. He just said to be sure and give them a call if I needed help with anything. A couple of days after my visit, his nurse contacted me by phone to go over the results of my labs. I will definitely stay with Dr Hossain.

Very clean facility and friendly, helpful staff. This was my first visit and I am pleased with my choice for medical care, here. Dr. Hossain is very easy to follow and explains in detail your needs. Making appointments are easy and accommodating but can be seen on short notice as well.

The whole staff from the front office, the nurses and the front office. They never try to rush me and if the Dr is delayed when I have an appointment they always let me know. The front office people have sense of humor and t the same time re professional.

When you go to a doctor visit you expect they take all your vitals and not ask if you have taken all vitals. A proper prognosis is expected from a MD. That would have been my only comment.
