Dr. Shahla Rah is an experienced and highly trained board certified Gastroenterologist in practice for over 20 years. She was awarded a prestigious Fellow status by the American College of Gastroenterology, FACG.
After graduating from Dow Medical College with honors, she received her post graduate training in surgery in England. She then migrated to the US and completed her Internal Medicine residency at Loyola Medical Center, Chicago and completed her Gastroenterology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
She believes in providing quality health care and spends extra time listening to her patient’s needs with compassion and care. Her calm and caring attitude puts patients at ease, especially with the endoscopic procedures.
Dr. Rah keeps herself up to date with the most recent innovations and techniques incorporating it into her practice, such as: Capsule Endoscopy, Smart Pill, and Gastric Balloon for weight loss. She speaks nationally to educate colleagues and is involved in research protocols.
Dr. Rah believes prevention is the key to a healthy body. She provides nutritional support and performs new and up-to-date non-surgical weight loss procedure by implanting Gastric Balloon for weight loss. She is the first gastroenterologist who started performing non-surgical hemorrhoid removal procedures in her Orange County office using the CRH O’Reagan system. This procedure is painless with no downtime, besides other laser procedure.
Dr. Rah’s personal efforts to spread colorectal cancer awareness include her marathon team, “Pound the Polyps Cure the Cancer”, for which she raised large amounts to donate to the American Cancer Society for colon cancer prevention. She is also involved in community service and volunteering.
Dr. Rah is affiliated with Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and Irvine. In her spare time, she loves to travel, spend time with family, and be outdoors connecting with nature, playing golf, tennis, & hiking.
