I was early, but my appointment time came and went without me getting in to see her. I think I waited about 20 minutes -- that is, my appointment was for 10.20 and I didn't even get started until about 10.45. She was very professional and clear in her explanations, but not particularly warm. However, I was looking for a doctor, not a friend, so her reserve is not misplaced, though it was a bit unexpected..

Dr. Shauyene Hsieh will be joining Vancouver Eye Care in August 2012. While originally from Nebraska, Dr. Shauyene Hsieh moved east to obtain her college degree from Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude. She then completed medical school at Columbia University, followed by an ophthalmology residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
As a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Hsieh enjoys being engaged in the variety and challenges of practicing adult comprehensive ophthalmology. She speaks fluent English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese, as well as medical Spanish. Being a relative newcomer to the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Dr. Hsieh is enjoying her time here, exploring the wonders of the area as well as running, hiking, and catching up on world events.

She was very clinical in her evaluation with no personality at all. Doesn't make her a bad doctor though. However, I have never been sent out to a bright waiting room waiting for the dilating drops to work, and I have been going to eye doctors for 35 years. That was outrageous and uncomfortable. I will not be going back.

I was very pleased with the tests Dr. Hsieh performed...I felt like she took my eye care seriously. However, the wait time between when my eyes were dilated until Dr. Hsieh appeared was way too long.
