I had a really good experience with Dr. Hassan, the receptionist, and the physician assistant. Everyone was friendly, patient, and helpful. I felt like I was really being heard. I was x-rayed and only had to wait maybe 20 minutes for my results. Dr. Hassan explained everything concisely and gave me a clear plan for treatment. Office was very clean and modern. Sheref Hassan is an experienced and accomplished orthopaedic surgeon treating his patients in Brooklyn. Dr. Hassan attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at the Yeshiva University to complete his medical degree. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the same institution before completing his orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at the MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. Dr. Hassan is clinically interested in treating joint complains, cartilage injuries, elbow ligament injuries, rotator cuff injuries, meniscus tears, ACL tears, sports injuries, as well as providing injections, and general orthopaedics.
Dr. Hassan has applied his extensive experience to assisting sports teams as a physician and orthopaedic physician. These teams include the Baltimore Ravens football team, the Washington Nationals baseball team, and the Baltimore Blast soccer team.

I was clearly in pain and everyone from X-ray technician to nurse to Dr. Hassan tried their hardest to make me smile through the pain. Dr. Hassan takes his time explaining things and then makes sure you understand completely. Great visit despite the pain!

I was checked in immediately, but it took about 30 minutes for me to be called to take X-Rays. After that I had to wait another hour to be called in to see the doctor and another 30 minutes before the doctor actually came into the room. The nurse was cordial and professional and would pop in every 10 min or so to check on me and reassure me that the doctor would be a little while longer. When the doctor arrived he was very knowledgeable, professional, polite, and reassuring. I would see him again, but prepare myself for a longer wait. However, if I end up waiting another 2.5 hours I will likely not go back.

I initially was working with another Orthopedist who spent practically no time with me and did not explain anything to me. Then I found Dr. Hassan and his assistant Adele who are absolutely amazing! Adele had me in stitches, super personable, puts you at ease and Dr. Hassan was patient, attentive, and basically made you feel like he was in no rush to be anywhere else. Three months ago I as an out-patient had a surgery for my left hand, at Methodist Hosp. Unfortunately, postop period proved to be problematic - I'm still in pain, and the surgeon refused to admit a problem and treat it, saying - "just continue exercises". Dr. Sheref Hassan, on the other hand, was very deliberate, spent enough time to sort it out and find out which of the tendons remained affected and delivered a cortisone injection along that particular tendon. I've had, at long last, a relief.

There was some issue due to the fact that I had booked the appointment on Zoc Doc that was the reason behind our very long wait (they didn't know why we were there and we did not appear on his list of appointments for the day) I would suggest that if you book on Zoc Doc you follow up with a phone call and make sure they know you are coming.

I had pretty good idea what was wrong but had no idea what to do about it. Dr. Hassan did a great job of explaining the problem and what to do, as well as answering my questions clearly.
Also, I liked that they just took me back for an x-ray before seeing the doctor, and then the doctor saw me after seeing the x-rays. Many places would make you see the doctor, wait for x-rays, then see the doctor again, which can take a long time.

It seemed just weird to me that they decided to take X-rays just based on my self-diagnosis ("my shoulder hurts") before actually seeing the doctor: I'm not a specialist, so I might just be using the wrong terms and maybe I could have spared myself some radiations. Besides that the doctor was nice and thorough, I believe he checked whatever needed to be checked.

I was impressed not only with Dr. Hassan, but his entire staff. I waited less than 5 minutes in the waiting room before I was checked in, then was almost immediately taken for xrays. Then two minutes later I spoke with the nurse, and then the doctor. He didn't rush me and I feel that he made the correct diagnosis. I wish more medical offices operated with this degree of professionalism and kindness!
