About Dr. Andrew Farber
Andrew E. Farber, DO, FAAOS, is a member of Summit Health’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, and completed his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York, Binghamton. Dr. Farber completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System and a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at The University of Chicago Medical Center.
Dr. Farber practices general orthopedic surgery with an emphasis on injuries and pathology involving the hand and upper extremity in children and adults. As a fellowship-trained orthopedic hand surgeon, he treats a wide range of surgical and nonoperative conditions, including trauma and fractures; osteoarthritis and degenerative disorders; tendon injuries; trigger finger; nerve conditions such as carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndromes; and Dupuytren’s contracture. He is also skilled in managing conditions affecting the neck, back, and lower extremity.
He strives to understand not only his patients’ orthopedic pathology or injury impacting their function but also their physical needs and goals. This approach enables him to provide diagnostic and treatment recommendations tailored to each individual.
Dr. Farber believes communication and education are essential to care and outcome. “I want my patients to feel empowered and educated so they can make the best decisions for their health and recovery,” he says. “I love to see patients return to activities they enjoy, whether sports, work, or playtime with children and grandchildren.”
In his free time, Dr. Farber enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, going to the beach, cooking and baking, and running in Central Park. As a proud parent of a rescue dog, he supports and learns about animal rescue organizations.
