This was my first visit with Dr. Bharaktiya. She was nothing short of amazing. First, I generally hate going to the Dr in general. I just get extremely nervous. Dr. Bharaktiya was so kind and extremely thorough. She spent quite a bit of time asking me questions about my history and what I hoped to achieve under her care. Even though this was my first visit I left with a game plan and next steps. That was reassuring for me. I am thrilled to have found Dr. Bharaktiya.

Dr. Shikha Bharaktiya is an insightful, detail-oriented endocrinologist treating patients in the Greater Houston area. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at UT Health Science Center at Houston following which she was selected to serve as Chief Medical Resident. Dr. Bharaktiya went on to complete her fellowship in Endocrinology at UT Houston Health Science Center. She has undergone specialized training in thyroid ultrasound and biopsy, as well as in reading studies of bone density. She has also trained at MD Anderson during her fellowship to gain expertise in endocrine cancers such as thyroid cancer, pituitary and adrenal tumors.
Originally from Bangalore, India, Dr. Bharaktiya enjoys yoga, running, biking and spending time with her two kids when she is not treating patients.

I really enjoyed my visit with the doctor. She was nice and compassionate. Unfortunately, I will never go back because:
1- they never return your call. I was in the ER because of the medication she prescribe me (I don't blame her for that). I needed to talk to her to get her opinion but she never called me back.
2- she ordered a biopsy. I know they had the results but did not call me. I am still waiting for the results after 2 weeks. My husband called them at least 20 times. Each time it was a different story. Like I said I am still waiting. How long does it take you to call a patient? Seriously!!!!
Their patient follow up is BAD.

Dr. Bharaktiya is awesome. I've been searching for a new doctor and read the reviews and they were all spot on. She is very caring and listens very well. She sits right in front of you and looks in your eyes as you explain things. She reviewed several different options with me of treatment and also asked me to call her office the next day and let them know how I was doing. I recommend her 100%!

The visit was fine. However, they were still in the process of setting up their office. They had to call some office to charge my credit card.
The other issue is return phone calls. They almost NEVER return a phone call. When they do, it's over a week later. I asked for Dr. Bharaktiya to call me back and she did not until I called the after hours reception.
Dr. Bharakitya is personable enough during her appointments but it's the follow up from her and her office that is problem. Also, their staff that does call back seems to have issues relaying all the information the Dr. provides them as well answering questions. Which brings us back to the call back issues.
I really wanted to like the Dr and her staff but I'm stuck with this office since all the other endocrinologists are booked. I've never had this many issues with a Dr's office before.

I waited maybe 10 minutes after my appointment to be seen. I came to see Dr. B for a second opinion, and almost immediately, I felt way more comfortable with her than with my other endocrinologist. Dr. B asked more specific questions, explained her thought process more thoroughly, and took my concerns more seriously than my previous doctor.
I highly highly highly recommend seeing Dr. Bharaktiya.

Well I'm very pleased with my experience so far at the office. I saw Dr. Splenser actually and as a first time patient I was very happy! The office staff is nice and the wait time was what was expected. Also the woman who does the blood work is a pro! Dr. Splenser took his time getting to know me and was informative and direct which I appreciate very much. I have a follow up appointment coming up and I am actually looking forward to it. I drive almost an hour in traffic to see Dr. Bharaktiya and will continue to do so. On my first visit, she listened very carefully to my history and symptoms. She took her time to read through all of the lab results I brought from the past. She spent a lot of time explaining what she thought my diagnosis may be. I appreciated her explaining why she could rule some things out and why she ordered tests to further investigate the problem areas. Throughout the conversation, she asked & answered questions based on very specific information from my history. This indicated that she didn't just superficially glance at the paperwork or take for granted what I was saying. She had truly put together and understood all of the information presented to her. It sounds like what a doctor should do anyway, but in reality, it doesn't always happen that way. I have recommended Dr. Bharaktiya to my friends with adrenal or hormonal issues and they are very pleased with her also.

Dr Bharaktiya is great but the office staff that handles prescriptions, messages, following up are horrible. You have to call repeated times to get through and you never get a return phone call. It took almost 2 weeks to get my medication because the office staff sent the prescription to a pharmacy that I didn't use and never asked me where I wanted my prescription sent and I actually had to call in to find this out.

I was so pleasantly surprised about the wonderful experience I had at Dr. Bharaktiya's office. I have never seen an endocrinologist before, as my issues are recent and hormone/thyroid related. I wanted to have my hormones checked for irregularities post partum. Dr. B was very thorough and detailed about reviewing with me my symptoms and spent a good amount of time explaining what she can do to help me. She was kind, interested in my well being, and very easy and comfortable to talk to. I feel like I am being taken care of, which in my experience with doctors seems rare these days. I never write reviews unless I'm blown away and based on my appointment yesterday, I would highly recommend this doctor.
