More about Dr. Shirley Rajan, MD

* CURRENTLY ONLY ACCEPTING SELF-PAY PATIENTS* I am a dual board certified adult and child-adolescent psychiatrist with extensive experience in treating patients with complex emotional and behavioral challenges. I am well adept at addressing issues ranging from depression, to ADHD, to behavioural issues, to mood dysregulation. In addition to my private practice, I serve as the Associate Medical Direct of the Adolescent DBT Program at Princeton House Behavioral Health. I specialize in treating teens and adults struggling with high risk self-harm behaviors and chronic suicidality, focused on improving the management of emotions and decreasing impulsive, destructive behaviors. I received a dual B.S. with honors from Rutgers University studying Psychology and Neuroscience. I completed residency in General Psychiatry and fellowship in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry from the University of Massachusetts. There I gained extensive training in solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. I believe in incorporating multiple psychotherapeutic modalities with psychopharmacology. A comprehensive assessment, a working alliance with clients and families, and collaboration with schools and pediatricians should be the foundation of any treatment.

It was a consultation on zoom. The session was ok. Nothing good or bad. I was being referred just to get prescribed medication. The follow up was terrible. We were supposed to be in touch after trying the medication but the doctor was unresponsive.
