Dr. Nguyen listened and really took the time to work with me on my concerns. I was running late so shifted appointments with another patient and she did not make me feel rushed or anything.

Dr. Nguyen was great! She was very attentive, actively listened, and allowed me to go in length about all my concerns until I was satisfied - and that’s saying a lot, coming from HMO which is rushed and only 15min to PPO is night and day difference!
I’m looking forward to seeing her again ??

Dr. Nguyen attended the University of California, San Diego where she earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. She received her medical training at Michigan State University, College of Medicine. After medical school, Dr. Nguyen returned home to Southern California and spent the next three years at the University of California, Riverside for her internship and residency training in Internal Medicine. Dr. Nguyen then completed a one-year subspecialty training in Hemostasis and Thrombosis at the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Nguyen was born and raised in Vietnam. She immigrated to the United States along with her family at the age of 13. The poverty and lack of sufficient medical service in her birth country ignited her childhood dream of becoming a competent and compassionate physician for all. Dr. Nguyen embraces the special patient-physician relationship, the opportunity to understand each individual, and to assist with their healthcare needs. She keenly believes that preventive care along with early diagnosis and proper management is the fundamental essence to improve one’s quality of life.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, outdoor activities, traveling, and spending time with her family. She is blessed to be the mother of two who have taught her to live, laugh, and love in the simplest ways. Dr. Nguyen is fluent in English and Vietnamese.

I needed a test done for a procedure coming up and when the receptionist tried to schedule it for several days later, she personally saw to it that her staff got me in the same day!

The provider was nice but it has been a horrible experience getting ordinary lab results from this provider. It has been a month and I yet to receive them. I will not be ever going back I do not like how they handle client related matters. As a patient I should not have to keep following up about my lab results.

There was some initial confusion in the provider’s confirmation information that said I had an in-person appointment when it was actually a video call (same for this survey—I never went to the office, and this office did not initially know I made an appointment through ZocDoc). However, video call was confirmed quickly and everything went smoothly, including the appointment and Dr. Nguyen was great and helpful. When the reception at the Encinitas location gets overwhelmed, your call will forward to a call center and the rep may be very short and rushed and may conclude a call before you can reply. United Health will text you a link for your video call but is not the same as the call listed in the app. You have to use the one from text, and transfer it to the device you are using for the call, if not your phone. Email would be easier if using a laptop. There is an info consent form for United Gastroenterologists that is unclear if this is the same provider as Dr Nguyen’s.

I had such an awesome experience with Dr Nguyen. She is the most caring person that I’ve ever known. She didn’t rush me like other doctors and actually took my input seriously and worked with me through all my problems. Dr Sonha is hands down the most empathetic and approachable physician I’ve ever worked with.
I have extremely anxiety and ptsd that I do treat with therapy and medication. Either way I’ve had really bad past medical experiences and care so I was nervous.
This was not the case in her office! She was helpful, nice, informative, and answered all of my questions with care.
I look forward to working with her for the rest of my life and would recommend her bedside manner to anyone.
