Dr. Sonja Cortez Dieterichs was born and grew up in Houston, Texas. She attended The University of Texas in Austin obtaining dual degrees in Biology and Kinesiology, while a cheerleader with Texas Pom. She received her Medical Degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Dieterichs, during her residency at UTMB, was involved in ophthalmologic allergy research and development of the eye-telemedicine program.
Outside of the clinical arena, Sonja is married to Chad Dieterichs, MD and has three sons that are active in school and sports. Sonja also works with her husband supporting a not for profit that teaches and trains people with disabilities how to scuba dive and experience the freedom of the underwater environment. Dr. D. is very active with fitness, running, underwater photography, remodeling and design, sports and time on the lake with her family.
Dr. Dieterichs is fluent in Spanish and has special interests in health and nutrition, anti-aging and cosmetic ophthalmology.

Dr. Dieterichs was thorough, friendly and informative. I didn't feel rushed and the entire staff seem like a great fit. She was happy to answer all my questions and proactively provided things to watch for to protect my vision/eyes with my auto immune disease. I highly recommend!!
