For nearly 20 years, Dr. Rao has been in private practice in the Houston area as a diagnostic and interventional radiologist. Dr. Rao has served as director of Radiology at many hospitals and imaging centers throughout the Houston area. He is a board-certified radiologist with the American Board of Radiology, a member of the Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, and American College of Phlebology. His expertise in ultrasound and ultrasound guided procedures makes him the ideal physician in the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease. Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) is extremely common and unfortunately, extremely under-diagnosed. With the advances in technology, we should not allow anyone suffering with CVI to go undiagnosed. Minimally invasive treatments are available today that will prevent the many serious and potentially life-threatening consequences of not diagnosing and treating venous insufficiency. As an interventional radiologist and our extensive training in ultrasound and all imaging modalities, we are the best suited to evaluate, diagnose and treat venous disease.
As a Houston native, Dr. Rao attended Bellaire High School and graduated with highest honors from Rice University. He attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston for medical school training as well as for residency training in diagnostic radiology. Dr. Rao was selected as Chief Resident during his tenure. Following residency, Dr. Rao completed a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
