At The Hand, Wrist & Elbow Center of South Texas - A Division of The Orthopaedic Specialists of South Texas, Dr. Rust and her staff provide comprehensive and specialized care from conditions caused by work and sports related injuries, fractures, deformities, congenital defects and disease processes. We treat the complete range of musculoskeletal disorders, diseases and injuries to the hand, wrist and elbow, with the highest quality of orthopaedic, medical and surgical care available in the areas of reconstruction and arthroscopic surgery, and endoscopic carpal tunnel release.
Dr. Stacé Rust is a Texas Hill Country native. She is a graduate of Comfort High School, in Comfort, Texas, the University of Texas in Austin, and the School of Medicine at UT Health Science Center San Antonio. Upon her graduation, Dr. Rust was selected to complete her orthopaedic surgery residency with the UT Health Science Center.
Her post-graduate orthopaedic training included an intensive and comprehensive fellowship with the Hand Center of San Antonio with the renowned upper extremity orthopaedic and plastic surgeons, David P. Green, M.D. and William Chris Pedersen, M.D. Her fellowship concentrated on all facets of orthopaedic and plastic upper extremity reconstruction. Dr. Rust additionally participated in extensive training with Marybeth Ezaki, M.D. and Peter Carter, M.D. of the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas. During this time, Dr. Rust worked exclusively on the treatment of congenital pediatric upper extremity maladies. She is one of a very few board certified surgeons in Texas with a specialization in upper extremity pediatric orthopaedics, and her expertise extends to the newborn. Following her Hand Center of San Antonio fellowship, she was asked to join the Hand Center.
Dr. Rust is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and in 2012, earned her Subspecialty Certificate in Sugery of the Hand and has specialized training in endoscopic carpal tunnel release. Since 2005, she has assisted in educating and training over 25 upper extremity fellows at the Hand Center of San Antonio and has been published in the prestigious Journal of Hand Surgery and the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery.
