Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, for the past 6 years my husband and I have called Charleston home. At the age of 18, I obtained my Bachelors of Science degree in Biochemistry from Syracuse University. Four years later I would attend UMDNJ-SOM (now Rowan University) where I earned my Degree of Osteopathy (D.O). Afterwards my husband and I moved to Charleston, SC where I completed residency training in family practice at Trident Hospital and the Medical University of South Carolina. Although we are natives of NYC, we now consider Charleston home and are active in the community here working as mentors with Big Brother Big Sister as well as with Louie’s Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting obesity, one kid at a time.
For the past 3 years, I worked as an attending at a rural practice in SC. It was during this time in practice, I began to realize the inefficiencies in primary care and started to envision a practice setting where I would have the time necessary to sit and talk and truly get to the bottom of the issues my patients were dealing with. I wanted a practice where I could have truly in depth relationships with my clients/patients and help guide them towards true well-being. I began to realize that my day was geared towards catering to insurance companies and very little time was spent actually caring for my patients who called me their family physician.
Family Wellness Center of Charleston is the fulfillment of that vision. Here there is no catering to insurance companies. I am your personal physician, in times of sickness and health, through acute illness and chronic disease. The Center takes us to a time long past where different disciplines came together to address an illness. There will be no long waits for short visits with your doctor.

Love going to see Dr.D ! She is a great listener and takes time to talk to about different treatment options and actually ask you opinion! I which is extremely important as I have fibromyalgia and that has many different symptoms that can be tricky to deal with.

The office was clean, the front counter lady was/is a sweet heart and she was a pro doing my blood draw, got it on the first try. I know the practice is trying to grow so I know when it gets bigger it may not be the same but right now Dr. Dejesus takes her time with you she listens and she does not judge. I will be signing my family members up with this practice. Very happy to have a family physician that I can afford and trust.
