Dr. Stephen Alex attended medical school at the University of Rochester, completed his general surgery training at the University of California, San Francisco and his Orthopedic Training and Hand Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery with Added Qualifications in Surgery of the Hand.
His broad professional experience across the country has enabled him to learn, train and work alongside the best hand, wrist and forearm surgeons and doctors nationwide.
For the last 20 years, Dr. Alex has worked as an Orthopedic, Micro-Vascular and Hand Surgeon in Miami and Hawaii and his interests include peripheral nerve disorders, hand and wrist trauma and complex hand reconstructions.
Dr. Alex is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and a Unique Member of the New Millennium Hand Club.
Since 2005, Dr. Alex has been a Member Partner of the Miami Hand Center specializing in severe hand and wrist trauma and he currently manages his own independent office at Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida. He is one of Miami’s top hand surgeons and is affiliated with the best hospitals in the region including the Baptist Hospital system.
Besides his love for medicine, Dr. Alex is an avid traveler, fluent Spanish speaker and proud resident of South Florida.
