Dr. Ortiz is originally from Southern California, but also lived in Northern California for five years during his medical school training at Stanford University Medical School. As well, he spent several years in New York and Minnesota, while undergoing his surgical training. He is very pleased to be living in Florida and back in a warm climate. He has two grown children, a son and a daughter, both in their twenties. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting and fishing, camping, scuba diving, and skateboarding and surfing. He also enjoys traveling in the U.S. and abroad. His favorite travel destinations to date are Prague, Czech Republic, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Care Philosophy: Dr. Ortiz's philosophy is simple: The ultimate goal of treatment is to reduce pain and improve quality of life. Conservative treatment options should always be exhausted first, prior to discussing surgical intervention. And, when necessary, surgical intervention should comprise of the smallest surgery possible with the best likelihood of a good outcome.
