Steven Sclafani, M.D., F.A.A.O.S., is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon fellowship trained in orthopaedic sports medicine. His office is located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. He is Chief of Sports Medicine and Co-Director of the Department of Orthopaedics at Lutheran Medical Center. Please note: Appointments will be confirmed on business days.
Dr. Sclafani graduated Magna Cum Laude from Drew University. He studied medicine at New York Medical College and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed a five year orthopaedic residency at New York University. He was then chosen by Dr. James Andrews and Dr. William Clancy for a fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. During his fellowship, Dr. Sclafani learned advance techniques in arthroscopic shoulder, elbow and knee reconstruction. He served as a team physician for several high schools and Jackson State University. He also served as assistant team physician for the Toronto Blue Jays.
Dr. Sclafani’s surgical practice focuses on disorders of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He has special interest in arthroscopic surgery, minimally invasive surgery and joint preservation surgery. Dr. Sclafani also performs joint replacement surgery of the knee.
Dr. Sclafani is currently Chief of Sports Medicine at Lutheran Medical Center. He also serves as a consultant for a major orthopaedic company. He assists in the development of new surgical techniques and instrumentation for joint preservation surgery. Dr. Sclafani is also affiliated with Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ and sees patients at the Atlantic Sports Health facility.
