Dr. Slotkin grew up in New Jersey and moved to Michigan for college and graduate studies at the University of Michigan in the College of Engineering. After graduating with a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, he worked for two years for a Metro Detroit Automotive Supplier. When Dr. Slotkin discovered that Engineering wasn’t his true passion, he went to medical school in Detroit and soon fell in love with Orthopaedics. Dr. Slotkin’s Orthopaedic residency in Detroit taught him about the city and its people. He found the biggest challenges and gratification in caring for children during his training at Gillette Specialty Children’s Hospital in Minnesota and chose to pursue further training in Pediatric Orthopaedics in Dallas, Texas, at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. It was in Dallas that he was able to appreciate the entire spectrum of musculoskeletal pathology that children may experience. He is thrilled to be able to return to the Detroit area, which has served as the foundation for his medical training.

I’ve been to DMC Children’s Hospital Detroit Orthopedic office before and love it. The only issue with Zocdoc that I had was my son’s information was incorrect, I had to call to make sure it was updated and that his appointment was shown in the office’s system.

Dr. Slotkin was awesome. My daughter had broken her elbow and we went to see Dr. Slotkin for the surgery. It was a very scary time for myself and my daughter. However, he communicated very well and was very personable. I would definitely recommend him!

Lang :) - ultra sound tech was very nice, orthopaedics nurse was excellent and patient as she showed us where to go and didn't miss a step when we had to register w/ radiology for ultrasound.
