Dr. Bhanvadia is fellowship trained in urologic oncology, with expertise in robotic and open surgeries for early and advanced urologic malignancies including kidney, prostate, bladder, testis and penile cancer, and certain types of sarcoma. She has extensive experience in the management of bladder cancer including neobladder and other continent types of urinary diversion. She also has advanced training in dealing with complicated genitourinary reconstructions, including those that arise after prior surgery or radiation.
Dr. Bhanvadia is committed to a patient-centered approach for all urologic disease processes, employing an operative or non-operative approach taking into account not just the latest data or medical innovation, but also the patient and their family’s goals and concerns. Her research focuses on understanding the real-world application of cancer care, discoveries the challenges and barriers for patients and physicians, and disparities to cancer care in terms of gender, ethnicity and insurance status. She has published multiple papers related to improving the delivery of surgical care and surgical techniques to minimize morbidity while offering the best cancer outcome. Dr. Bhanvadia is currently grant funded to study novel epigenetic markers of bladder cancer response to chemotherapy.
