Dr. Sunil Asnani has over 25 years of experience caring for patients. He graduated from the University of Delhi, India. He completed his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at Tulane University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans in 2003. Dr. Asnani has held many leadership positions in the past, including Chief of Endocrinology and the Director of Diabetes at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He was also the site director for the endocrinology fellowship program and clinical associate professor at Rutgers-RWJ School of Medicine. Prior to joining Optum, Dr. Asnani served as the treasurer for Coastal Healthcare, a large multispecialty group. Dr. Asnani was named one New Jersey Monthly’s “Top Doctors” in 2016 and 2021, and consistently achieved the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recognition in diabetes care. He has received the Louis F. Albright Award for excellence in clinical education and he has contributed as a teacher to students, residents and fellows; as a researcher with investigator-initiated trial and pharmaceutical sponsored trials; as a clinician with thousands of patients treated; and, as a leader with administrative positions and responsibilities.
