Dr. Tarek M. Fakhouri, a Fellowship-Trained Mohs Surgeon, is board-certified by the American Academy of Dermatology and is a member of the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He specializes in the treatment of skin cancer and aesthetic reconstruction.
Dr. Fakhouri attended Vanderbilt University for his undergraduate studies where he majored in economics and molecular biology and was inducted into the Omicron Delta Epsilon national economics honor society. After completing his masters in medical science, he received his doctorate in medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine. During medical school he was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and graduated with high distinction.
He completed his internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, where he served as chief resident and was awarded the Chief’s Award by the internal medicine department. He then completed his dermatology residency at Wayne State University Department of Dermatology.
Following residency, Dr. Fakhouri completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at Surgical Dermatology Group in Birmingham, AL. He has performed and assisted in thousands cases of Mohs Micrographic Surgery with advanced reconstructions and also has extensive training in a variety of cosmetic and laser procedures.
Dr. Fakhouri served as director of Mohs surgery at Wayne State University’s Department of Dermatology where he provided Mohs surgery services for Wayne State University Physician Group’s network of 600 doctors as well as for our nation’s veterans at the John D. Dingell VA hospital in Detroit. Since moving to Houston, Dr. Fakhouri has been recognized as a "Top Doctor" in 2015 and 2016 and Super Doctor "Rising Star" in 2016.
Prior to founding Skin Cancer Specialists, Dr. Fakhouri has provided outstanding Mohs services to patients in the Houston area. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, the outdoors, and obsessing over college football.

He spent no time with me and didn't listen to me at all. He wouldn't let me finish telling him my symptoms before he quickly diagnosed me with neurodermatitis and just prescribed me with a cream and pill for the itch. My problem was besides the itch, so it didn't help at all. My biggest problem is he would not listen. He didn't even examine me at all or look at all the swollen lymph nodes, etc. I'm just glad my insurance covered 100% so it wasn't a total loss.

Very nice clean and modern office. Everything about their systems and even checkin is smooth and intuitive. Both the NP (or PA? She told me but I forgot) and Dr Fakhouri were very kind and friendly, listened to all my concerns and made me feel comfortable despite freaking myself out after googling about a suspicious mole (I know, I know lol) it turned out to be nothing but I'm glad I had it checked out.
