Therese is amazing! She practically saved my relationship. My now wife and I started seeing her over 2 years ago when we were having family issues during wedding planning. She has helped us navigate really difficult problems and continues to be a great third party in our relationship.

Therese is wonderful in my couples counseling sessions. I initially went to her while planning our wedding and dealing with the difficulties that come along with that. She has since helped me and my partner navigate countless of tricky, difficult, and heartbreaking life events, such as the passing of our dog, family issues and talking through starting a family. She has helped us become an extremely strong and communicative couple.

I am a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst with a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Loyola University Chicago and a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University. I also completed advanced training in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis at New York University. I believe that most psychological symptoms you might be suffering from, such as anxiety, depression, relational difficulties, and poor self-esteem, are caused by deeper emotional conflict and pain. Once identified and worked with in psychotherapy, this pain and conflict, along with the symptoms they create, can be greatly relieved. In addition, by addressing these deeper issues, you often discover strengths and gifts within yourself that you may never have been aware of. I have been working in this way for the past thirty years with adult patients, both individually and with couples, with much success.
You will find that my style is very empathic as well as direct and interactive. I have also published a book titled *The Consulting Room and Beyond* (Routledge, 2009), along with several articles on psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. I am a clinical associate professor at New York University’s Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.

Therese is very warm and empathic, and she is also amazingly insightful. She was so kind in how she talked about what the reason was for my problem, making it very easy to hear and understand.

I have known Dr Ragen for a number of years. Before I met her, I had been looking for an experienced clinical psychologist / psychoanalyst to help me with personal / emotional issues. I also needed to find someone who could be flexible, as my work required frequent travelling, relocation and the need to make frequent schedule changes. At first, I thought the arrangements would not work out favorably for both of us – especially for Dr Ragen. I also feared my being often away could affect the quality, relevance and depth of our work. I found her to be thoughtful, direct, present, focused and highly professional. I was able to build a rapport with her early on in therapy and, over time, to develop a greater level of insight and reflection about my personal issues and to move forward. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Ragen as a therapist.
