My parents laid a firm foundation for my career in medicine in my childhood. I chose Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery as a career because of my passion for the intricate and delicate anatomy of the head and neck. Ensuring the patient’s wholeness by preserving functionality, aesthetic beauty, self-identity and unique voice is of quintessential importance to me.
I am most proud of my contributions to the development of imaged guided technologies and minimally-invasive surgical techniques. As these technologies evolve, they improve the level of care while simultaneously decreasing disability and shorten healing time. Throughout my career I have been active through committee appointments in advocating for quality care. My education and profession have granted me the opportunity to help less fortunate children with cleft and cranial deformities. I have participated with missionary work both locally and abroad.
I am grateful to have received the encouragement, education and guidance from my parents, family, mentors and professors to become a surgeon. This encouragement to acquire knowledge and skill is something I feel we must pass on to future generations.
