Hi, I’m Trista! Let me give you a little snippet into who I am as a human being. I moved at the age of 13 from Mississippi to a small West Texas Town. In 2017, I began my undergraduate journey in interdisciplinary studies at Texas Tech University (TTU). I stayed in Lubbock to begin my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy at TTU in 2020. Yep, I was in what my program called the “COVID Cohort”. It was an interesting time to say the least. I am married to my lovely husband, Wesley, and we have two beautiful fur babies, Caroline and Luna. My hobbies include trying to keep my plants alive, playing tennis, and escaping to fantasy book worlds.
I have always had a passion for helping others and consider myself a lifetime learner. For a long time, my dream career was to be a Neonatal Physician or a Gynecologist. When I was a kid I would watch those cheesy TLC shows about birth and parenting. It was always interesting to me. While it seems this was still a part of God’s plan for me, He went about it in a different way. I found my passion for counseling when I began working at an inpatient addiction recovery center as a residential aid. I absolutely loved my job because it really put the important things in life into perspective. I saw the magic happen when clients went through the family program. It was amazing to see these people who had not had the recovery light bulb come on until after having family therapy. I knew that I wanted to be a part of this change. To this day, I love working with families and couples whose goal is to rebuild their relationships broken by addiction.
I enjoy working with couples doing marital and pre-marital counseling as well as aiding families in navigating life transitions. My passion, though, is working with couples and/or individuals struggling with infertility issues, the perinatal period, and postpartum mental health.
