Dr. Nguyen was very thorough & took a considerable amount of time with me. He looked through all of my old paperwork & films and answered all of questions. Much more pleasant than the "typical" neurosurgeon you would see around here!!

Dr. Nguyen is an accomplished brain surgeon with expertise in the surgical treatment of adult neurological conditions affecting the brain, spine, spinal cord and peripheral nerve.
Dr. Nguyen’s interest in the neurosciences began at University of Pennsylvania, where he majored in biology and worked in a lab focusing on astrocytes. He obtained his medical degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine, NY.
After completing neurosurgery residency in Portland, Oregon, he began a four-year research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health, where he trained with Dr. Ed Oldfield to treat patients with von Hippel-Lindau disease and investigated novel techniques to deliver drugs into the brain. He began his friendship with Dr. Watson during their time together at the NIH.
Dr. Nguyen was at Georgetown School of Medicine Department of Surgery before moving to New Hampshire in 2004, where he was the sole neurosurgical provider for the Southern New Hampshire region. He specializes in brain and spinal cord tumors, meningiomas, surgical treatment of Chiari malformations, trigeminal neuralgia, and stereotactic radiosurgery.
Dr. Nguyen treats degenerative spinal conditions using a variety of minimally invasive techniques, if indicated, and standard and minimally invasive fusion. He was part of the development/design team for the VEO retractor system (Baxano Surgical) for minimally invasive direct lateral fusion, and trains US and international surgeons frequently to use the system. He has also been conducting lab research to purify stem cells obtained during surgery for use with fusion.
