He and the staff were great. Unfortunately I filled out all of the papers ahed of my appointment on Zodoc but they were not received so I had to do it all again in the office.

The waiting time before we were called into the office was less than 30 minutes but the doctor visited with my Dad and reviewed his body symptoms and then went to take care of another patient. By then we had to wait over 30 minutes again before he could treat him. We were there over an hour and the temperature in the room was hot almost making me ill. I know that doctors don't know what they are getting into before they see the patient but it seems that almost with every doctor we see we end up being in their offices for over an hour and that just makes it seem like the doctors don't have as much regard for the patient's time as their own. Of course, we want the correct treatment of the symptom and for the doctor to not be in a rush but it just seems like if they would schedule less patients that maybe everyone could be in the office less time. I am not just critiquing Dr. Mackey, I am speaking in general about the majority of doctors that we see. Dr. Mackey is very personable and we very much like him and trust him. It is just the waiting that is a probllem for me.

Dr. Mackey started his own practice, Advanced Desert Dermatology, in 2004 in Peoria, Arizona, the state in which he was born and raised. He received advanced degrees at the University of Mississippi, securing a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology, and then, four years later, a Doctorate at the College of Osteopathic Medicine, located in Pomona, California, in 1986.
His post graduate training consisted of a year at Phoenix General Hospital, a year at New England Medical Center, and three years at the Midwestern University Consortium. Following his internship experience, Dr. Mackey spent a total of thirteen years in family practice, working in clinics and medical centers in both Las Vegas, Nevada, and Phoenix, Arizona. In the year 2000, Dr. Mackey went back into residency at Arizona Desert Dermatology and Surgery, P.C., completed his residency in 2004, and became the dermatologist he always knew he would be.
Dr. Mackey's title, D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy), only differs from the title, M.D. (Doctor of Medicine), in that it defines him as a physician who views the human body as a whole, the patient as a "total person," and builds his practice on those concepts. The same intensive training and certifications are involved with both doctorates; the only difference is an emphasis on an osteopathic approach to medicine versus an allopathic.
A doctor of osteopathic medicine promotes the body's natural ability to heal, viewing the musculoskeletal system as the crux of good health, with an emphasis on preventative and comprehensive care. While the world of medicine can sometimes become impersonal, where patients are labeled for their disease or illness rather than their names, an osteopathic approach inherently deters such sensibilities.

I highly recommend Dr. Mackey to anyone who needs dermatological consult and treatment. I went in first for sebaceous hyperplasia, and knee then that I had found “my” dermatologist! He is very knowledgeable, answers alll questions, and has a very kind and patient demeanor.

Dr Mackey is always very caring and professional. His easy going manner puts you at ease and he takes the trouble to explain what he's doing and why.
He gives a comprehensive update of the patient prognosis and recommends services available to improve/heal the problem if any.
I have been with him for around 12 years and would not even consider going elsewhere for my dermatology health.
